Our Warfighter of the Week is Quartermaster 3rd Class Lakesha L. Rhodes, from Norfolk, Virginia, assigned to navigation department aboard the ship.

ET2 Tahisis McKee, from Houston, RADAR technician for CS-6, secures her harness while aloft so she can safely perform maintenance. She makes sure the RADAR, display systems, navigation systems, and antennae are working properly, allowing the ship to continue the mission.

"CS-6 works navigation of the ship, aircraft landing, and making sure the aircraft get all the information they need. It's pretty important," says Mckee.

Happy 29th Anniversary of your Commissioning.
I served on the GW from 1998-1999 and retired from her. I hope at some point, you'll consider posting a comprehensive photo study of then/now photos to show how the ship has changed.
My heart is full of joy and i don"t really know how to start thank.i have been living in pains for the past 2 years now not until i meet Professor Oseamuyi who was able to restore my life back with his herbal medicine, i was infected with Ge***al Herpes for two years now everyday of my life i cry to God as I was a mother of 2 cute kids who were looking up to me i was still taking my medication from the hospital which cost me a lot, I also did some prayers to God that he should do some miracle in my life,Few Months ago i was browsing on net when I found some good testimonials about Professor Oseamuyi Herbs, and someone recommended that he has cured Hiv,Hpv,ulcer, and so many other disease I always had faith that God could use someone to heal me, then I contacted Professor Oseamuyi and I told him my problems, he told me not to worry that with God all things are possible and also that he was going to prepare for me some herbal herbs which i am to take and he is going to send the medicine to me, well after all the guidance and medication from Professor Oseamuyi he advice that i go for check up again to see my status result and he assured me of good result, i was afraid at this point cause i never wanted someone to tell me again that i am positive, after 2 days I went to the Hospital for check up and they said the result was to come out by sautday, at 10:00 AM on saturday the Doctor called me and told me that the result was out and I am Negative, I was shocked and could not believe it, I immediately called Professor Oseamuyi and told him about the good news he told me to rejoice and make sure I share my testimony with my friends and that is why I am doing this right now, friends you can contact Professor Oseamuyi today on [email protected]

WE LOVE YOU
In August 2008 I cross decked from USS Kitty Hawk to be OM Division LPO. I brought with me the door art for the ASW Module. (I have a pic but cannot post here.) Can anyone from CDC or OM confirm if it’s still on the door? Thank you for your service.
Hello! I’m curious to know when or if GW is going out to deploy?
Does anyone other than the quarterdeck watch and duty section work here?

I have had a screening in waiting for response from medical for about 3 weeks now with no response, either to me or my local medical. The sponsor coordinator has a full voicemail and it took me reaching out to the OMBUDSMAN and quarterdeck watch to actually hear from someone today after 2 weeks of trying.

The number to medical just rings through until my phone is tired of trying or it is busy, so which is it? Are you guys that busy you are always on the phone, or just leave it off the hook from time to time so you don't have to hear it ring?

I understand i'm not the only one transferring to the ship and there are a lot of people to take care of on your city on blocks, but this is ridiculous.

Maybe I am biased coming from a smaller community after 17 years as a submariner, but come on. My poor sponsor finally contacted me today after I left a message with the quarterdeck and he sounded blindsided by the fact that he was even a sponsor.

I apologize for sounding a little irritated, but do you blame me? I transfer within the month and this is the first contact I have had with anyone but your OMBUDSMAN and even she seemed to lack any sort of functional knowledge. But I can't blame her since it seems to me that this is status quo for this ship.

I only hope that this public post garners some sort of attention at the lack of any semblance of organization within the ship and helps effect change in the sponsorship and medical programs.
On this episode of The Surgical Fiction Podcast, an excerpt from TO PROVIDE AND MAINTAIN A NAVY

This is a fascinating look at the maritime environment in so far as it proscribes the need for navies in general and the US Navy in particular. Even if you know nothing about naval doctrine or policy, you will find the historical aspects fascinating. Keeping the world's seas free for maritime navigation is not as simple or straightforward as one might think, and yet is vital to commerce around the world.

The excerpt is the foreward of the book, written by John Lehman, former Secretary of the US Navy.
