Anger is being spoon-fed to the American people by "leaders" who stoke fear with lies, conspiracies, and vitriolic rhetoric. It's damaging and eroding our ability to be civil with those with whom we disagree.
Threats of violence over politics has increased heavily in the last few years. But the darkness has reached new lows. My new interns made this compilation of recent calls they’ve received while serving in my DC office.
WARNING: this video contains foul & graphic language.
What we’ve uncovered at the January 6th Committee should concern every American. The truth is not political and the facts are damning. I’d urge my fellow Republicans still in denial to ask themselves how they’d react if a Democrat in the White House did this. It would not and cannot go unchecked.
To recap: the former President directed his supporters to march to the Capitol where his VP, Cong. leadership, nearly all Members & staff were...knowing that many of those marching were armed. He then tussled with Secret Service, grabbing for the steering wheel to be there so he could do...what? What was President Trump looking to do at the U.S. Capitol that day?
It’s chilling to think where we'd be without the DOJ officials who upheld their oath to serve their country and refused to do President Trump's personal bidding.
Speaking truth to power takes courage. Thank you to those who have bravely stepped forward to testify January 6th Committee.

Donald Trump did not receive enough votes to win the 2020 election. He was told this repeatedly, as our witnesses today shared, but he decided to declare victory anyway. His perpetuation of the Big Lie led to January 6.
Those are the facts; the truth is not political. #January6thHearings
Rep. Kinzinger on Sensible Gun Reform in America
As a strong defender of the Second Amendment, I believe we have to be the ones putting forward reasonable solutions to gun violence. I'm focused on saving lives, and I'm hopeful more of my colleagues will reach across the aisle to do the same.
More on my stance for sensible gun reform in America can be found here: https://bit.ly/3GJ8aXy
Last week, I spoke with CNN’s John Berman New Day about the massacre in Buffalo. One week, and here we are again. We cannot ignore this; we cannot continue to feed people a steady diet of fear & anger and not expect dangerous outcomes.

The January 6th Committee needs to hear directly from Dan Scavino about his and President Trump’s role in inciting violence on January 6th. He has highly important information but has chosen to stiff-arm the American people and hide the truth. It's unlawful and inexcusable. https://bit.ly/3qOzFIy
For years, I've called for the diversification of our energy supply & that of our European allies. [see here: bit.ly/HR3206_EU]
In this moment, we have to cut Russia at their knees by banning their oil imports. Next, we need to help our allies be more energy independent.
Kinzinger Explains His Call for Ukraine No-Fly Zone
Shortly after Russia's unjust, unprovoked invasion into Ukraine began, and the world saw how reckless and indiscriminate Putin's attacks were on innocent people, I called for a no-fly zone. Here's why, and what steps I think we can and should take next.
As we continue to learn more about the attacks at the Kabul airport, our prayers are with our American service members, our citizens, and our allies on the ground. May God bless our fallen service members and their families. The loss of life is devastating, marking a heartbreaking day in this ongoing fight.
We must stop this chaos, gain control of the situation, and ensure we get everyone we promised out of #Afghanistan. A retreat today would be the largest recruiting tool for terrorists worldwide, so I continue to urge the President to extend the deadline and stand up for freedom.

Kinzinger Questions Zuckerberg During E&C Hearing
Last week, I had the opportunity to question Facebook’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg on his company’s use of algorithms which have contributed to high levels of extremism and violence. While I appreciated his willingness to testify at Energy & Commerce Committee Republicans and answer my questions, Congress must act on Big Tech issues that promote divisiveness among the American people.
Congressman Kinzinger Calls to Invoke the 25th Amendment
It is with a heavy heart that, for the sake of our Democracy, I'm calling for the 25th Amendment to be invoked.

Courage Over Conspiracy
I can stay quiet and take the easy path to re-election, or I can lead without fear.
I took an oath, and I owe it to my family, my country, and my God.
Here is the truth:
Kinzinger on Chaos in the World of Social Media, Election Reality: "Rise above the fray...and the fears"
Excessive tweets will not change the election, it just creates more chaos and confusion. We need to rise above the fray and move forward as a nation.

Kinzinger Speaks on House Floor in Support of Bipartisan Solution to Cyclical Violence Act
Mental health issues are spiking across the country, and unfortunately, so are acts of violence. And the victims of this violence are often caught in a vicious cycle.
But by supporting victims with the resources and education to pursue a different path, we can stop the cycle of violence and give people hope for a better tomorrow.
The Bipartisan Solution to Cyclical Violence Act is a perfect example of how we can work together and enact policies that will have a real and lasting impact in our communities.

Addressing the Issues of Clean Energy, Now and for the Future
Just because we're getting close to November doesn’t mean we have to stop legislating through consensus-building. We need to get serious about good-faith negotiating in Congress and we need to get serious about energy independence and reducing emissions. #NuclearMatters

Kinzinger Addressing Threats By QAnon Network
It’s a little jarring to see some of the conspiracy theories like those that QAnon spreads on social media, but that’s the reality we’re in.
Technology has brought us great advances in life and how we connect, but it has also opened us up to a whole new host of dangers.
And bad actors are taking full advantage of humanity’s vulnerability with malicious troll campaigns. It’s something we need to be vigilant about, recognize, and denounce.
The FBI has labeled the QAnon network as a domestic terror threat for this very reason. And it’s our responsibility to make sure these conspiracy theories don’t take root and damage the foundation of our society.
Congratulations to IL-16's Class of 2020!
Here’s to you, the Class of 2020. I know this year didn't end how you imagined, but you did it--you graduated and THAT is something to be celebrated. Congratulations!
Understanding Fear, Being Part of the Solution
I‘ll never know what it feels like to be a black man walking down the street, afraid of being targeted by a bad cop. I'll never know what it feels like to be a police officer who leaves their family every morning to walk into harms way to protect your fellow Americans.
But I do know there is a problem: one that requires all of us to acknowledge it and work together to resolve it. We can & must do more to eradicate racial bias, and we can & must do so without the politics.
D-Day: The Great Crusade for Freedom
By honoring our past, we secure our future. #DDay
In the early morning hours of June 6, 1944, our Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy, fighting valiantly to save the free world.
Today, we remember those who courageously served and sacrificed in this most daring mission.
Kinzinger: Unplug the Rage Machine
Stories are manufactured all the time and targeted to specifically garner a big reaction. The crazy headlines are coupled with a seemingly legitimate news source, reeling us in. This clickbait is everywhere and on social media, it can spread like wildfire.
We all have a role to play in protecting our freedoms from being exploited by these bad actors and their cyber tricks.
We have to rise above and unplug the rage machine that’s generated by trolls on the dark web.
Take a deep breath and stay vigilant against these conspiracy theories.
Good Samaritans of IL-16: Heroes of the Week
This week, we celebrated: International Firefighters Day, Teacher Appreciation Day/Week, National Nurses Day/Week, and a handful of other commemorations. But I wanted to take this opportunity and focus today's 'Good Samaritans of IL-16' video to highlight our heores and applaud the dedication of our firefighters, teachers, and nurses. #IL16
