Funny how some of y'all pick and choose when honesty matters.

America condemned Rachel Dolezal for misrepresenting who she was.

People blasted Jussie Smollett after authorities concluded he fabricated an attack.

Malachi Love-Robinson became a national story after posing as a doctor and claiming credentials he didn't earn.

Why?

Because we all understand a simple principle: honesty matters.

So why does deception suddenly become acceptable when it's someone you like?

Either honesty matters or it doesn't.

Stop telling me a lie is okay because it makes you feel good, sounds inspiring, or comes from someone you admire.

You don't get to claim credentials you didn't earn.

You don't get to claim experiences you didn't have.

You don't get to build a reputation on a false foundation and then get offended when people point it out.

A beautiful lie is still a lie. (Cheyenne Bryant)

A convincing fraud is still a fraud. (Politicians, celebrities, bosses, friends, etc…)

And the people defending it aren't proving how open-minded they are, they're proving how willing they are to overlook deception when it benefits them.

Truth doesn't change because the liar is charismatic.

Character doesn't change because the audience applauds.

Keep celebrating the deception if you want. Just don't pretend you're standing on principle when you're standing on preference.
