We are proud to swear in Nathan Gowen as our newest Assistant District Attorney in the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office!

Nathan joins us fresh out of Mercer Law School, where he served as our Chief Law Clerk. We are thrilled to welcome him back to the office as an ADA and know he will be a valuable addition to our team.

We are proud to welcome Kate Lenhard to our team as our newest Assistant District Attorney! ⚖️

Kate comes to us with more than 20 years of prosecutorial experience with a career dedicated to seeking justice, particularly in cases involving crimes against women and children.

Kate will be serving in our Butts County Office, and we are incredibly excited to have someone with her experience, knowledge, and commitment to victims join our team.

Please join us in congratulating Kate on being sworn in and welcoming her to the office! We are proud to have her on our team and look forward to all she will bring to the communities we serve.

Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Carolee Reed Jordan and Assistant District Attorney Max Smith had the honor of presenting a Courtroom Demeanor and Testimony course at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center to a class of new law enforcement officers.

Courtroom testimony is a critical part of the justice system, and professional demeanor, clear communication, and thorough preparation can make all the difference. We were proud to help equip these officers with the skills they’ll use throughout their careers.

Thank you to the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia and Georgia Public Safety Training Center for the opportunity to be part of this training.

We are proud to recognize Investigator Jerry Meadows for sharing his expertise with the community this past weekend.

Investigator Meadows served as a presenter at the Knowledge and Power seminar hosted by Greater Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Thomaston. During the two-day seminar, he addressed cybersecurity and human trafficking, educating attendees on identifying threats, protecting themselves online, and increasing awareness of human trafficking.

We value opportunities to partner with our communities through education and outreach. Thank you, Investigator Meadows, for representing the District Attorney’s Office and for your commitment to keeping our communities informed and safe.

While we proudly swear in law students to serve as law clerks, we also have the privilege of welcoming undergraduate legal interns to our office. This summer, we were fortunate to have two outstanding hometown college students join us: Stuart Watson from Berry College and Amelia James from Mercer University.

We are grateful for their hard work, enthusiasm, and dedication throughout the summer. We wish them both continued success as they pursue their legal careers!

The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office is aware of the recent arrest of an animal control officer at the Monroe County Animal Shelter. Our office is handling the matter in accordance with our legal and ethical obligations. Because this is an ongoing matter, we will not be making any further public comment at this time.

Our office had the pleasure of participating in the swearing in of our law clerk, Ariana Groomes, under the Student Practice Act. As a law student, Ariana has already participated in court and helped pick a jury. Congrats Ariana!

District Attorney Dorothy V. Hull was officially sworn into office at the Georgia State Capitol in Governor Brian Kemp’s office. This special occasion marked the beginning of her leadership of the Towaliga Judicial Circuit and her continued commitment to serving the citizens of Butts, Lamar, and Monroe Counties.
