City of Phoenix Water Services Department 602-262-6251 for customer services needs.

24/7 hotline 602-261-8000 for urgent water/sewer issues. Not monitored for customer issues.

The City of Phoenix Water Services Department is more than 110 years old. Phoenix’s water and sewer rates remain among the lowest of large cities nationwide. Water Services serves 1.7 million Phoenix tap water customers throughout 550 square miles, and 2.5 million area residents with wastewater treatment. Phoenix’s 12,000 miles of water and sewer lines would stretch almost halfway around the plane

t. Infrastructure also includes seven treatment plants, 55,000 fire hydrants and 90,000 manholes. Phoenix’s tap water supply, which starts primarily as snow, is in very good shape due to decades of planning and multiple water sources; primarily the Salt, Verde and Colorado Rivers. Nearly all of the city’s treated wastewater is reused on crops, wetlands and energy production. More than five million tests and measurements are performed each year to meet or surpass water quality regulations.

It's been a windy, dusty day!

While we’re all wishing for some rain, here’s a friendly reminder to water with the weather this summer.

On hot days, water can evaporate fast - so water deeply in the early morning or late evening for best results.

We are honored that the Pure Water Phoenix and Pure Water Arizona partnership received the “Program of the Year Award” at the annual Arizona WateReuse Symposium in Flagstaff.

The City of Phoenix is making major investments in long-term water security, starting with the Cave Creek Road Water Reclamation Plant, which will be the site of the first Advanced Water Purification Facility in the City. Thanks to Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego and Phoenix City Council's leadership, this facility is on track to serve drinking water as early as 2029. This program will also include two other facilities, including a proposed regional project that may ultimately produce up to 64 million gallons of water per day.

This endeavor expands beyond the City's boundaries. Pure Water Arizona is designed to be scalable — built on guiding principles of collaboration, engagement, stewardship, and inclusivity. Partners like the City of Tucson - Government have been instrumental in regional outreach efforts that support water reuse projects.
