As you know, there are major changes underway at Rainbow House. Unfortunately, they are the types of changes we are sharing with a heavy heart. According to findings by the Board at Rainbow House this summer, high level decisions were not made in accordance with Board approved decisions. This has put us into a situation where we are forced to close the shelter side of our organization on Friday, September 27. The Child Advocacy Center services will remain open. Donations are still going to help Rainbow House and CAC services to help the kids. Little Dixie Construction has been an outstanding partner through this construction process and has offered, and we have accepted the decision to sign over the shelter property to them to help alleviate our financial distress. This is a sad day for the Kids, the Staff, the Volunteers, the Board, and all who have supported and loved the Rainbow House over the many years it has been helping the children of this community. Our hope and prayers are that this organization will not fade away but continue in a new direction. Please send all questions and inquiries to Tyler W***y, Board President.

We hope everyone had a great weekend. Today we will introduce you to another Board Member. Please welcome Tyler W***y. Tyler is our Board President. Tyler joined the RBH Board in the spring of 2022 and now serves as the Board President. He is the founder of GKR motor cars where his team allows dreams to come true with anything automotive. He most enjoys time with his wife, Dorothy, and three children. They love to go camping, hiking and relaxing on the farm. Tyler has been leading us through this time of change with grace and positivity. Thank you for all the time and support you continue to give to our agency.

This is Brad Tweedy. Brad joined our board early 2023. He is now our Board Treasurer. He is a loan officer for Veterans United where he primarily helps veterans achieve their goal of homeownership. Today is their day!!! This is the famous Sir Winston and Prince Phillip. They are well known to the MDTs in our 11 counties. Most importantly they are known to most children prior to their meeting with us. Winston is a trained therapy dog for the children that visit the CAC. The dogs provide comfort during an uncomfortable time for the child. But please believe it has gone to Winston's head as he thinks he is the boss of our agency. Phillip is just a kind gentle soul.

This is our CAC Director Brenda Porter. She doesn't know what 8-5 means. Today we shine a light on our Shelter Director, Angelayah Carter. Angelayah started at Rainbow House as a Youth Specialist. She was promoted to Shelter Director over a year ago. Our highly trained staff treat the children like family while keeping them safe and helping them to heal. Every moment is a teaching moment for our staff and volunteers who work with these children. The shelter is home like, safe, and comfortable with lots of play, learning, good meals, and snacks for the children. We also provide a lot of love and caring.

****A little history lesson about Rainbow House****

DID YOU KNOW: Rainbow House started in 1986 with a simple yet powerful vision: to create a safe, home-like environment for children in crisis. Founded by foster parent Kathy Hughes, it quickly became the only children's emergency shelter in Mid-Missouri. Over the years, Rainbow House expanded its services to include crisis care in 1992, providing parents in crisis with a safe place for their children without involving outside agencies. In 1998, the Regional Child Advocacy Center was added, conducting forensic interviews to protect children from abuse. Today, Rainbow House continues to grow, supporting more families and children in need than ever before. Below is a photo of the original Rainbow House location.
