We’re thrilled to announce the 2025 One City, One Book: Mansfield Reads book selection is We Were the Lucky Ones by bestselling author Georgia Hunter.

This gripping historical novel, inspired by Hunter’s family’s survival during the Holocaust, has captivated readers with its themes of resilience, hope, and the enduring strength of family. The story’s impact has continued to grow with its recent adaptation into a highly acclaimed Hulu TV series.

Copies of We Were the Lucky Ones are available for checkout in the Mansfield Public Library collection and will soon be available for purchase through the Friends of the Mansfield Public Library.

The Mansfield Public Library will be closed Thursday, Jan. 9, and Friday, Jan. 10, due to inclement weather. Regular operations will resume on Saturday, Jan. 11. All holds and due dates will be extended.

The City of Mansfield will activate a warming center from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, and Friday, Jan. 10, at the Mansfield Activities Center, 106 S. Wisteria St. Those in need can come and warm in the facility's heated lobby.

Celebrate with a Holly for the Holidays. The City of Mansfield will hand out trees to residents at 10 a.m. and continuing while supplies last on Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Mansfield Public Library, 104 South Wisteria St. Don’t miss this chance to add some greenery to your yard and contribute to a greener community. Trees are limited to one per person.

Kick off the holiday season at the Mansfield Texas Public Library during Letters to Santa at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5.

Enjoy s’mores with the Mansfield Police Department, write your letter to Santa, and make festive crafts! Stick around for a special story time and photo opportunity with Santa himself at 6:30 p.m.
