May is coming to a close, but that doesn't mean we should stop taking sun safety seriously!

When you take your workout outside this season, don’t forget to add sunscreen to your routine!

No matter how long you’re outside, even if it’s just for a few minutes, use broad spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher before on your skin before you walk the door.

If you think you might have a mental illness, there are a few different things you can do. Taking any action is better than nothing, so start with whatever seems most helpful to you:
- Online screening tool https://screening.mhanational.org/ *
- Talk to someone you trust
- Make an appointment with your P*P

*Please note: Online screening tools are meant to be a quick snapshot of your mental health. If your results indicate you may be experiencing symptoms of a mental illness, consider sharing your results with someone. A mental health provider (such as a doctor or a therapist) can give you a full assessment and talk to you about options for how to feel better.

If you’re wondering if a mole is possibly melanoma or skin cancer, follow the ABCDEs when reviewing looking at your skin:

A – Asymmetry: Does one side of the mole match the other?
B – Border: Are the edges of the mole not defined?
C – Color: Does the mole have multiple colors?
D – Diameter: Is it larger than the size of a pencil eraser?
E – Evolving: Has the mole changed in size, color or texture over time?

May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month. Melanoma, one type of skin cancer, is in the top 5 of cancers in Iowa and continues to rise.

Wearing sunscreen, a hat and clothing that covers the skin are just a few things you can do when outside to protect yourself from sun damage.

Improving our mental health can start with something as small as remaining properly hydrated. Our brains are made up of 73% water on average. While every organ in the body needs water to perform its actions properly, brain function can be severely impacted by dehydration.

Some of the most notable impacts of hydration on mental health are as follows:
- Lower risk of anxiety and depression
- Improved emotional health
- Decreased risk of dementia
