League of Women Voters of Indianapolis

League of Women Voters of Indianapolis The League of Women Voters is where hands-on work to safeguard democracy leads to civic improvement. We influence public policy through education and advocacy.

The League of Women Voters of Indy is a nonpartisan grassroots organization that encourages informed and active participation in government. We never support or oppose any political party or candidate. We have two separate and distinct roles: to educate the public about elections, issues and the voting process; and to advocate through a nonpartisan lens, for policies that improve the everyday lives of Indianapolis residents. To learn more about a candidate in your area visit Vote411.org.

Did you know 16- and 17-year-old high school students can serve as poll workers on Election Day?
Through Indiana’s Hoosier Hall Pass program, eligible students can gain hands-on experience in our democracy while helping their communities conduct free and fair elections. Students must have approval from their principal and parent or guardian, and meet other eligibility requirements.

Indiana’s legislative and congressional districts should be redrawn only during the regular redistricting process following the census.
Add your name to the petition urging Indiana legislators to follow the Indiana Constitution and oppose any attempt to redraw maps before the next scheduled redistricting in 2031.

Repost from Hoosiers Concerned About Gun Violence (HCGV)

Su***de is a serious public health issue. Here’s a look at what the latest data tell us about su***de deaths in our state.
In 2024:
• 1,175 Hoosiers died by su***de.
• Indiana’s su***de rate was 17.0 deaths per 100,000 people—higher than the national rate of 14.4.
• Among Hoosiers ages 15–34, the su***de rate increased 7% from 2023 to 2024, reaching 19.7 per 100,000.
• Fi****ms were involved in 65% of su***de deaths.

The data remind us why su***de prevention, early intervention, access to support, and reducing access to lethal means are so important.

If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available. Call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.
