I worked for 4 years to right a horrible wrong done to a generation of U.S. Marines and their families poisoned by well water. The Camp Lejeune Justice Act finally gives victims their day in court. And yesterday I finally got to visit the facility, long since cleaned up and serving as the launching point for II MEF, the Second Marine Expeditionary Force, available at a moment’s notice for deployment around the globe. North Carolina U.S. Congressman Chuck Edwards and I toured the facility, as well as its Marine Corps Air Station New River.

🚆PASSENGER RAIL UPDATE: CONSTRUCTION IS STARTING🚆

Today, U.S. Senator Bob Casey and I announced a nearly $9 million CRISI grant to begin restoring the rail line between the Delaware Water Gap and Scranton.

The teamwork demonstrated between the Pennsylvania Northeast Regional Railroad Authority, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), Amtrak, our local, county and state officials - especially Governor Josh Shapiro – has brought us to this moment.

I’d like to thank every one involved in keeping our passenger rail project on track. With today's announcement, we’re gaining even more steam to get the job done. Learn more here:

Since 1967, Pittston Area and Wyoming Areas’ high school football teams have competed annually for their historic rivalry game. It was great seeing Mayor Mike Lombardo and so many friends, neighbors, and proud parents carrying on this time-honored tradition. Congratulations to the players and everyone who made this year’s game one to remember!

We had a beautiful afternoon at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Whole Person Care Center in downtown Scranton. The $1.5 million in federal funding I secured for this project will empower the center to deliver mental health, substance use disorder, and physical health services—all under one roof. Thank you to these heroes for providing transformative care to those who need it most!

As your Congressman, I’m committed to creating the right conditions for NEPA to thrive. As part of my annual appropriations requests, I brought home $963,000 for Lackawanna College to advance industrial h**p research and workforce development with Hazleton-based Vytal Plant Sciences. This partnership will revitalize PA’s once-thriving industrial h**p industry, prepare our workforce, and position NEPA as a leader in this emerging sector, driving economic growth and creating good-paying jobs for years to come.

Lackawanna College is excited to announce the award of a $963,000 grant from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
