Want your organization to be the top-listed Government Service?
Alaska Moose Federation AMF provides a service for transporting moose and other roadkill animals for salvage. Over its history, AMF has retrieved and delivered over 5,000 salvage animals. AMF Volunteers operate a fleet of specialized salvage vehicles in the Mat-Su, Anchorage, Kenai Peninsula, and Fairbanks. After a moose is removed from the roadway, AMF delivers the moose for processing to salvage teams and charities. The Moose Salvage Program increases public safety by reducing Law Enforcement Officer time at accident scenes, returning traffic flow to normal, and eliminating salvage processing at accident scenes. AMF also collects valuable data from each incident such as: Date, Time, GPS coordinates, Road Conditions, Weather, and Browse attractants on the road side. This data is available to the Department Of Transportation, Department of Fish & Game, and Department of Public Safety to analyze wildlife impact on transportation systems, which in turn allows them to make roads safer for the public. In summary, the AMF provides a valuable service by turning tragedy into food security for thousands of Alaska residents each year. We also assist government agencies to improve the management and function of transportation and wildlife systems in the Great State of Alaska.
