🚩SANTA IS MISSING IN PASADENA, TEXAS! 🚩
We have received reports that Santa Claus has left the North Pole and is headed somewhere in Pasadena, Texas.

Sources have informed us that he will be with the 👨🏻‍🚒Pasadena Fire Department🚒 and will be driving around the streets of Pasadena, Texas in the afternoon and evening of ❄️December 21 and 22❄️.

Join The Pasadena Volunteer Fire Department!
The Pasadena Fire Department is the largest volunteer fire department in the United States and wants you to be part of the record. The 2021-B fire academy class is coming up soon so put your application in now.

Where and how do I apply?
In order to apply for the Pasadena Fire Academy, you would need to fill out a paper application. You can find a pdf version of the application here (tinyurl.com/pasadenafireapp). Once you have completed the application, you can either turn in the application in person at the chief’s office or through the mail (923 Shaw Avenue). If you have any questions on the application, feel free to call our office at 713-475-5554

What does the application process look like?
Once you have turned in your application with the Pasadena Fire Department, your application will be turned over to the Pasadena Fire Marshalls Office for a background check. Once that has been completed, you will then undergo a physical examination and then complete a physical agility test.

What does the physical agility test consist of?
The physical agility test consists of a keiser sled, dragging a charged hose line, carrying of a high rise pack, stair climbing, and dummy drag.

Do I need to have any knowledge of firefighting before I start the fire academy?
No, there is no requirement of any prior firefighting knowledge. Throughout the academy, you will be taught all there is to know about firefighting. You will go over topics such as haz-mat, hose handling, building construction, fire behavior, and tactics and strategies.

How long is the fire academy?
The Pasadena Fire Academy is a 13 week academy that meets every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. (Tuesday/Thursday 6pm-10pm & Saturday 8am-5pm)

As a volunteer firefighter, do I get paid?
As a volunteer firefighter, you do not get paid. However, you do receive a reimbursement fee for each call that you make. Plus, you get one of the best retirement pension plans that any volunteer fire department has to offer.

What is the time commitment once I graduate the fire academy?
Once you graduate the fire academy, you will receive a pager that will alert you for the calls that are toned for your fire station. You must make 25% percent of the calls that are toned out for your district. Plus, every Monday night there’s continuous training at your station that you must make 40% of.

What type of certification will I get at the end of the academy?
Upon your completion of the Pasadena Fire Academy, you will have the skills portion of Firefighter I (SFFMA) completed. You will then have to complete the written portion of the certification to then become certified as Firefighter I (SFFMA).

⚠️ If you see any downed power lines, please call CenterPoint at 713-207-2222 to make them aware! ⚠️ CenterPoint is overloaded with repairs and things might not be fixed for a while. 📞🔧 But reporting the issue will help with tracking on their end.

Please note, the fire department will not remove or cut any power lines, or remove any trees or debris. For trees blocking roadways, call the City of Pasadena Public Works at 713-477-1511. Your vigilance can make a difference! 🌟

Around 6:30pm Thursday afternoon, the Pasadena Fire Department received reports of possible flames seen inside a multi-family residential structure. First arriving units arrived on scene with a couch on fire. Fire crews made entry and were able to quickly extinguish the fire with minimal damage to the structure and adjacent units. This incident is currently under investigation by the Pasadena Fire Marshals Office.

Yesterday afternoon, the Pasadena Fire Department received reports of a vehicle fire near Vista and Strawberry. First arriving units advised a vehicle fully involved. Fire crews extinguished the fire with zero reported injuries. This fire is under investigation by the Pasadena Fire Marshal’s Office.

01122022 - SouthHouston Mutual Aid

Early Wednesday morning, the Pasadena Fire Department received a request for mutual aid from the South Houston Volunteer Fire Department for a single residence fully involved. Fire crews arrived on scene and extinguished the fire with zero reported injuries. The residence was currently under construction and was unoccupied. The cause of this fire is currently under investigation.
