Southside Electric Cooperative (SEC) is a member-owned electric distribution utility headquartered in Crewe, VA. We have four district offices in Altavista, Powhatan, Dinwiddie & Crewe. SEC provides electricity to about 55,000 residential & commercial meters within 18 counties in central & southside Virginia. At SEC, we appreciate your feedback, both negative & positive. ⚡🏆 Gaff-N-Go 2026 Results 🏆⚡

Southside Electric Cooperative’s lineworkers brought home impressive results at this year’s Gaff-n-Go Rodeo in Doswell, competing against 53 journeyman teams from across the region.

💥 SEC teams finished:
🥇 4th Overall
🥈 5th Overall
🥉 6th Overall

Our crews also earned:

✔️ 2nd Place – Working Skills

Extension cords are helpful — but they’re not meant to be long-term solutions.

Avoid:
• Running cords under rugs
• Pinching them in doors or windows
• Using them as permanent wiring

👉 If cords are part of your everyday setup, it’s safer to find a better solution.

More devices plugged in doesn’t always mean more convenience.

Space heaters, kitchen appliances, chargers, and electronics can overload outlets and power strips faster than you might expect.

Watch for warning signs:
• Warm outlets or power strips
• Flickering lights
• Frequent breaker trips

👉 Spreading devices out helps reduce fire risk and keeps your home safer.
