Subject: Notice of Dissolution of the Colonial Beach Rescue Squad

It is with careful consideration and sincere regret that we formally announce the dissolution of the Colonial Beach Rescue Squad, effective November 13, 2025.

This difficult decision was made by the organization’s leadership and governing board. Despite dedicated efforts by our members and supporters to maintain the CBVRS, it has become clear that we can no longer continue to operate. Because we no longer have the support from Westmoreland County, we have lost the physical and logistical means necessary to provide emergency services. Furthermore, the County has created its own auxiliary volunteer group.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all volunteers—past and present—whose service, time, and commitment have supported the people of Colonial Beach and the surrounding areas for the last 75 years. We also thank our community partners, donors, and citizens who placed their trust in us.

All equipment, assets, and records will be handled in accordance with state laws, regulatory requirements, and the organization’s bylaws.

If you have questions regarding this transition or need additional information, please contact [email protected].
Thank you for your understanding and for the many years of support for the Colonial Beach Rescue Squad.

********* The county staff will still be operating out of the Colonial Beach Station at 225 Dennison Street***********
Sincerely,
Colonial Beach Rescue

We haven’t posted in a while and have kept quiet about things. But it stops now.
How can a Board of Supervisor present anything regarding an MOU involving us when in fact no one has been in communication with us directly. We recently found out that a new lease has been drafted and signed between the town and the county, but we still have an active lease until 2034, oh and we own the building that the lease is for. We as an agency have upheld every requirement that has been asked of us and then some. Our desire has always been to provide 24/7 EMS coverage to our citizens, with the vision of building a new building for the future and continuing collaboration with WDES and to continue to give back to our community.

First responders are a different breed of human. We are driven by a passion, a calling, and it’s not just a job. We knowingly miss weekends, holidays, family events and so much more so that when someone is in need we are there. We carry calls with us forever.

And in the course of our career we all become family.

With heartfelt sympathy, we offer our condolences to AMR and their providers. We are praying for our brothers, their families, the AMR family, our VCU Tappahannock ED family and all first responders that were on scene.

Rest easy brother, we’ll take it from here.
