May is Mental Health Awareness Month 🧠
As Arts For Life’s programs in Behavioral Health continue to expand, many of our AFL Team and volunteers took the opportunity to participate in Mental Health First Aid Training earlier this year. Here are a few words from Winston-Salem Program Director, Betsey about the experience:
“Mental Health First Aid training provided our team of staff and volunteers with the tools we need to better serve all the patients we work with in our chapter hospitals. We left equipped with stronger knowledge of mental health conditions, how to communicate with our patients about different conditions, and how to be better advocates.”
This kind of professional development is vital to providing the level of quality and intentional care for our team and volunteers and offering that same care to our pediatric patients and families. Thank you to Mental Health First Aid USA for providing this important opportunity!
