The Genesee County Treasurer’s Office functions as the County’s bank. The Treasurer receives annual revenue from deposits totaling $494 million from other County departments, various local, state and federal agencies and delinquent taxes. In addition to serving as the County’s bank, the Treasurer’s Office spearheads the Genesee County dog licensing and delinquent property tax programs, and serves as Chairperson to the Land Bank Authority.

The Genesee County Treasurer’s office will be closed on Friday, February 11, 2022. The office will reopen on Monday, February 14, 2022. If you need to make a payment on your delinquent taxes, you can still do so by using the drop box located at the Beach Street entrance, paying online or by our automated phone system.

*****NEW PROGRAM*****

The Genesee County Treasurer is offering a new program to assist taxpayers with delinquent taxes. The Pay As You Stay (PAYS) program is another way for taxpayers to resolve their delinquent tax situation.

What is PAYS: A program to help struggling homeowners stay in their home by providing affordable payments.

Qualifications: the property owner must be receiving a poverty exemption from the city/township/ village on their current year taxes AND the city/township/village has agreed to participate in the program.

Payments: the taxpayer must pay a lump sum or agree to make monthly payments for a period not to exceed 36 months. All payments must be made monthly and timely to stay in the program. Failure to make 3 payments results in dismissal from the program.

Due to the two week closure of the Treasurer’s office, the last day to pay 2018 and prior taxes to avoid foreclosure has been extended to April 16, 2021 by 5:00 PM. This is based on a court order signed March 4, 2021.

We will also be closed on Thursday, November 12th and Friday, November 13th due to the Administration Building being closed to the public. Effective Monday of this week, we increased our hours to 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Appointments are now required to make tax payments, purchase dog licenses or pay transfer tax on real estate transactions.

Appointments can be made by accessing the link on the County Treasurer’s website at www.geneseecountytreasurer.com or by calling our office at (810) 257-3054.

In addition, the Treasurer's office has installed a drop box for the added safety and convenience for taxpayers and County staff. The 24-hour drop box is located at the Beach Street entrance and will accept items like payments, dog license applications or hardship applications. If you are making a payment, please do not put cash in the drop box and be sure to include your parcel number or address on your check or money order.

The Genesee County Treasurer's Office will be closed on October 1 & 2, 2020 for system maintenance. During this closure, online payments as well as in person payments will not be available. However, payments can still be made by mailing to 1101 Beach St, Flint MI 48502 or by using our new drop box located by the glass entrances off Beach Street, the front of the Genesee County Administration Building. Payments should be made payable to the Genesee County Treasurer and must include your parcel number or address. Our office will still be available to answer any questions at (810)257-3054. The Genesee County Treasurer’s Office continues to be closed to the public in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order. If you need a dog license, please mail in proof of rabies vaccination and payment to our office. We are currently working with minimal staff, therefore, the processing is slow. All delinquent dog license fees will be waived during this time of closure. If you have mailed in an application over the last couple months, please be patient, all applications for dog licenses will be processed once we are back to operating at full staff.
