Domestic violence isn't always about physical violence.

Sometimes abuse looks like controlling who someone talks to, where they go, how they spend money, what they wear, or whether they can work.

These behaviors can create fear and take away a person's independence.

Understanding these patterns helps us recognize abuse and respond with compassion instead of judgment.

Domestic violence is about power and control.

A COMMUNITY THAT CARES CHANGES LIVES

A woman leaving an abusive situation may feel like she has nowhere to turn.

That's where community matters.

At Family Peace Project, we believe no woman or child should have to face domestic violence alone.

It takes a community of people willing to care, listen, give, volunteer, and stand beside survivors.

Together, we can provide safety, dignity, healing, and hope.

Domestic violence doesn't only affect the person being abused. Children can experience fear, stress, and instability when violence is happening in their home.

In Henderson County, 3.9 family-violence incidents were reported per 1,000 residents in 2022.

The CDC recognizes witnessing violence in the home as an adverse childhood experience and notes that these experiences can have long-term effects on a child's health, well-being, and sense of safety.

That's why providing a safe place for a mother can also mean providing a safe place for her children.

At Family Peace Project, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to grow up knowing what safety, stability, and hope feel like.

This is why we do what we do.

Our Circle of Hope Sponsors are businesses and organizations that help make our annual fundraiser possible. Their support helps cover the costs of the event, allowing more of the funds raised through A Taste of Hope to go directly toward supporting women and children at Family Peace Project.

By joining our Circle of Hope, your business is helping provide safety, dignity, healing, and hope to women and children impacted by domestic violence in our community.

We would love to talk with businesses and organizations who want to stand with Family Peace Project and make a lasting difference.

Could your business join our Circle of Hope?

Send us a DM to learn more about becoming a Circle of Hope Sponsor.

You Don't Have to Be a Survivor to Be Part of the Solution!

You don't have to have experienced domestic violence to make a difference.

You can help by learning the signs, believing survivors, sharing resources, volunteering, donating, or simply being someone who listens without judgment.

At Family Peace Project, we believe it takes all of us to create a community where women and children can find safety, dignity, healing, and hope.

Want to get involved? Send us a DM. We'd love to hear from you.

Together, we can be part of the solution.

Financial Abuse Is Abuse!

Financial abuse can include controlling money, preventing someone from working, restricting access to accounts, destroying credit, or taking someone's money or property. NNEDV reports financial abuse occurs in 99% of domestic violence cases.
