The 2023 DoD MLK Day poster references the “I’ve Been to the
Mountaintop” speech that Dr. King wrote while visiting Bimini,
Bahamas. During this period, observers mentioned
was very solemn and thoughtful, as if he knew of the things
soon to come. On April 3, 1968, Dr. King delivered this speech
at the Mason Temple (Church of God in Christ Headquarters)
in Memphis, Tennessee; during which, he said:
“Let us rise up tonight with a greater readiness. Let us stand
with a greater determination. And let us move on in these
powerful days, these days of challenge to make America what it
ought to be. We have an opportunity to make America a better
nation.”
Dr. King’s speech delivered a powerful message, and although
his life was tragically taken soon after, to this day, this speech
continues to echo the importance of togetherness, readiness,
determination, and opportunity—traits long upheld by the DOD as
invaluable key workplace values.

ACS Family Advocacy invites students 6th grade and up to saddle up and learn line dancing at their “Barn Dance” on February 25th from 6pm to 8pm!! Drop off/Pick Up location will be at the Fort Rucker Youth Center and students will be bussed from the Center to the Riding Stables and back to the youth center after the event. Dinner will also be provided. Students must be members of the Fort Rucker Youth Center Program in order to attend and it’s free to become a member.
