The Count says...look for your books! We still have 200 library books that need to be returned. Please check bookbags, home libraries, under the seat in your car (one like that was turned in today!). Thank you for everything!

We are excited to be once again partnering with Read with Malcolm and using the Beanstack platform to track our Summer Reading! Students will also receive paper reading logs, and those will be going home the week of May 26th.

In order to earn a Champ (8 books read) or MVP (12 books read) honor for the Read with Malcolm challenge, students who are logging their pages in Beanstack must both log pages and mark books as complete to ensure their reading is tracked correctly.

The challenge runs from June 5-Sept. 6. Enjoy your summer and HAPPY READING!

Well, we have good news and bad news. The good news is that our students checked out more than 34,000 books and logged more than 4.3 million pages read for the school year! We continue to be impressed by their love of reading and try so hard to bring in books that will keep them engaged.

Now for the bad news - it’s time to return all St. James Elementary library books for the summer (cue the crying…). Please have all library books returned by Wednesday, May 27, so we can ensure they find their homes on the shelf so the books can rest for next year!

We love, love, love our readers!

April was a busy month in the library! We celebrated National Poetry Month with acrostic poems and rhyming dominoes, National School Library month with notes about why our students love the library, designed a school and t-shirt after reading "If I Built a School" and just had some plain, old fun.

Early St. Patrick’s Day morning, a lucky leprechaun secretly dropped a sack full of shiny gold coins throughout St. James Elementary. The leprechaun believed that books were the real treasure at the end of the rainbow 🌈, and more than 80 students were able to grab a coin and exchange it for a free book from our Book Vending Machine.

Thank you to the St. James Elementary PTA for supporting both our vending machine and our students' love for reading!

Let's March into Spring with a new reading challenge! Students have to get Bingo to complete the challenge, and the board is a mixture of number of pages read and specific activities. While the pages are logged automatically, students (and/or parents) will have to go into the challenge to complete some specific activities in order to achieve bingo. This challenge is active now through March 31 and can be found on the front page of the students’ Beanstack accounts. Happy reading!!!
