Officer Trainee Cody A. Olafson, Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO), who died after suffering a medical emergency on May 20, 2022, while training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Brunswick, Georgia.

Officer Trainee Olafson had served with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations for four months and was assign to Pembina Port of Entry in North Dakota.

In March 2003, collaborated with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to complete Port 1702—a Mock Port of Entry Complex located in Glynco, Georgia.

Port 1702 is a vital training asset for officers and agents from CBP, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS).

This simulated facility provides a dynamic, hands-on environment where students gain practical experience in real-world border enforcement scenarios. From vehicle inspections to traveler interactions, each exercise is designed to strengthen skills in border security, enforcement, and customer service.

Port 1702 offers realistic training with primary and secondary inspection points for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic, preparing students to excel in their roles within these agencies.
