We’re grateful to see Lauderdale County Schools providing free breakfast and lunch for all students. Access to nutritious food is essential for a child’s ability to learn, grow, and thrive. When we invest in feeding children, we invest in stronger classrooms, healthier families, and a brighter future for our communities.

Lauderdale County Schools will provide free breakfast and lunch to all students for the 2026-27 school year, continuing last year's successful meal program.

When the school year ends, many children in North Alabama lose access to the meals they depend on each day.

During the school year, breakfast and lunch programs help ensure kids have the nutrition they need to focus, learn and grow. But when those meals pause, families are often left to fill the gap on their own.

That's where the Food Bank of North Alabama and our over 220 feeding partners step in.

Throughout the summer, meals and groceries are distributed at schools. By meeting people where they are, these efforts help reduce barriers and ensure that healthy food remains within reach.

This support is about more than food for today. It helps children maintain energy, confidence and momentum, so they can continue learning, stay engaged and return to school ready to thrive.

The Food Bank of North Alabama is hosting a Drive-Thru Food Distribution on Wednesday, June 10th, at DeKalb VFW Fairgrounds!

📅 Date: Wednesday, June 10th
🕙 Time: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM (or until supplies last)
📍 Location: DeKalb VFW Fair Grounds - 151 18th St NE. Fort Payne, AL 35968 (enter on 20th Street)

We'll be distributing free groceries to those in need — all are welcome; no ID required.

Last week, the Food Bank of North Alabama completed our AIB food safety audits, achieving impressive scores of 960 at our Huntsville branch and 980 at our Shoals branch! 🎉

Conducted by AIB International, these audits are essential for maintaining high food safety standards. Assessing operational practices, food safety, cleaning procedures, pest management, and safety programs, FBNA has consistently scored above 900, reflecting our commitment to quality.

Ensuring food safety is central to our mission as we strive to support our neighbors in need. A big thank you to our amazing staff for making this achievement possible!
