Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) will hold the first of two community workshops on future improvements to Mickie Gordon Memorial Park on Thursday, August 31, 2023, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., at the Middleburg Community Center, located at 300 West Washington Street, Middleburg.

The workshops will include a brief presentation of existing conditions and the opportunity for input regarding future recreational elements at the park. Members of the community will participate in group breakout sessions with PRCS staff who will gather input provided by residents on recommended future improvements.

A Special Exception to the county’s zoning ordinance previously filed through the county’s legislative land use process has been placed on hold to gather further community input regarding future improvements to Mickie Gordon Memorial Park. The Special Exception process allows the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors opportunities to review the request, hear public comment on the proposal and impose appropriate conditions or restrictions on the use to minimize any negative impacts.

The date, time, and location of the second community workshop will be announced in the next few weeks.

Mickie Gordon Memorial Park is located at 23229 Carters Farm Lane (Route 627) along John Mosby Highway (Route 50), in Middleburg. The park consists of nearly 100 acres and includes baseball/softball and cricket fields, tennis courts, restrooms, and a pavilion, and offers a fishing pond and free parking. The park also serves as a Loudoun County recycling center.

For more information on future improvements to Mickie Gordon Memorial Park visit loudoun.gov/mickiegordon. Residents may also submit comments or questions regarding the future improvements to Mickie Gordon Memorial Park by email ([email protected]) or by mail to the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services, ATTN: Mickie Gordon Memorial Park, 742 Miller Drive, SE P.O. Box 7800, Leesburg, VA 20177.
