CleanScapes will hold a residential clutter and scrap cleanup event in partnership with Noyes Township on Saturday, September 27.

Noyes Township residents must register by Thursday, Sept. 25 at 6 pm, and a registration drop-off time will be provided. Leave voice message (no text) with Elisabeth Lynch at 570.726.3511 or email at [email protected].

* Maximum: 1 standard pickup truck bed load per household. Items accepted such as indoor & outdoor furniture, mattresses, plastic items, vacuum cleaners, broken light fixtures, wire, old tools, treated wood, …& scrap metal.

* Items not acceptable include: Food & construction waste, appliances (including air conditioners & dehumidifiers), TV’s, paint, oil or other chemicals, untreated wood (pallets), tires, cell phones & other electronics. On Saturday, May 10, from 9 am to 12 noon, CleanScapes and Lamar Supervisors are hosting a free residential clutter and scrap metal collection event at the Lamar Township municipal building. For a drop-off time, Lamar residents must register with CleanScapes. A maximum load of items, equal to one standard pickup truck bed load per household, will be accepted.

Items accepted include worn indoor and outdoor furniture, mattresses, non-recyclable plastics, vacuum cleaners, worn tools, and metal items. Items not accepted include food and construction debris, appliances (including air conditioners, microwaves and dehumidifiers), TV’s, paint, oil or other chemicals, pallets, tires and all electronics.

To register for a drop-off time, Lamar residents need to contact CleanScapes Project Director Elisabeth Lynch at 570.726.3511 (no text) or [email protected].

Authorities have confirmed that discarded, still-burning ci******es sparked the Table Rock Fire, which, fueled by dry, windy conditions, has now spread over 13,000 acres.

The devastation in one of South Carolina’s most beautiful landscapes is heartbreaking, but we are incredibly grateful for the relentless efforts of state and local personnel working to contain the flames.

Cigarette butts remain the most common type of litter in the US, and this fire is a tragic reminder of the damage they can cause. Taking just a moment to fully extinguish and properly dispose of a cigarette prevents disasters like this.

Stay safe and follow The South Carolina Forestry Commission for more information on the fire.

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) NextGen Advisory Council is reaching out to young professionals (~35 and under) to understand their experience in the outdoor recreation workforce. The results of this survey will be used by the PA DCNR and the Office of Outdoor Recreation to identify gaps in the viewpoints between young and experienced professionals and find solutions that enhance outdoor recreation employment opportunities in the Commonwealth.
