Beginning after June 1, Wisconsin’s “50-piece rule” places restrictions on the use of taxpayer-funded communications by elected officials who are candidates for office during the election period. As a result, our office will be pausing the weekly Legislative E-Update until after the November 3, 2026 General Election.

While the eUpdate will be on hold, my office remains available to assist constituents with state government issues, answer questions, and provide help with state agencies. Thank you for staying engaged and for following our work on behalf of the 24th Assembly District.

Today we celebrate the founding of our great state and the people who make it such a wonderful place to call home. From our hardworking families, farmers, manufacturers, small business owners, first responders, teachers, veterans, and community volunteers, Wisconsin’s strength has always come from its people.

Here in the 24th Assembly District, I am especially grateful for the communities of Menomonee Falls, Germantown, Lannon, and Butler and the pride, patriotism, and neighborly spirit that define our area.

As we celebrate Wisconsin’s birthday, let us also give thanks for the freedoms, opportunities, and traditions we share as Wisconsinites and Americans. May God continue to bless our state and the people who call it home.

As we conclude the month of May and recognize Mental Health Awareness Month, I want to encourage anyone who may be struggling to know that you are not alone. Mental health challenges affect individuals and families in every community, and it is important that we continue working to reduce stigma, support one another, and connect people with help when they need it.

I am grateful for organizations like Friendship Circle of Wisconsin and programs like safeTALK that are making a real difference in our communities. My staff and I completed safeTALK training, which helps participants recognize the signs that someone may be struggling and teaches how to connect individuals with lifesaving support and resources. Sometimes a simple conversation, a caring question, or knowing where to turn can make all the difference.

4 out of 5 Wisconsinites support the “Return the Surplus” package I voted in favor of. This bipartisan compromise would have returned the surplus back to you while also providing property tax relief, support for our local schools, and help for hardworking people to manage rising costs.

Unfortunately, Senate Democrats abandoned hardworking constituents by refusing to advance this common-sense plan. I will continue working every day to fight for Wisconsin taxpayers, lower costs for families, and policies that make our state more affordable and prosperous for everyone.

Today, I joined several of my legislative colleagues in submitting formal comments to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) opposing efforts to eliminate competition for major electric transmission projects in Wisconsin and across the MISO region.

Competition helps protect ratepayers by lowering costs, encouraging innovation, and preventing monopoly control over critical energy infrastructure. Wisconsin lawmakers have repeatedly rejected “Right of First Refusal” legislation in Madison, and we believe utilities should not be allowed to achieve through federal regulators what they could not pass through the Legislature.

At a time when families and businesses are already struggling with rising energy costs, protecting affordability and transparency must remain the priority.

I recently joined a group of legislators in sending a letter to Governor Evers regarding his new commutation policy and the serious concerns it raises for public safety and victims' rights. Thank you to Representatives Jim Piwowarczyk and Bob Donovan for taking the lead on drafting this important message.

Quite frankly, the fact that convicted cop killers like Ted Oswald are even eligible to apply for commutation is unfathomable. Families who have already endured unimaginable loss should not be forced to relive that trauma because dangerous criminals are suddenly being considered for early release after decades of Wisconsin governors refusing to commute these sentences.

Victims and law enforcement officers deserve certainty, transparency, and respect from our justice system. I will continue standing with crime victims, police officers, prosecutors, and the families who expect violent murderers to serve the sentences handed down by the courts. Public safety must come first.

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our country. Their courage, sacrifice, and devotion to defending freedom will never be forgotten, and we remain forever grateful to the heroes who gave everything for the blessings we enjoy today.

As we gather with family and friends this weekend, let us also remember the Gold Star families and loved ones who carry the weight of that sacrifice each day. Please join me in praying for comfort for those who mourn, strength for our military families, and continued protection for the men and women who continue to serve our nation around the world. May God bless our fallen heroes, our veterans, our active-duty military, and the United States of America.

As EMS Week comes to a close, I want to take a moment to thank the paramedics, EMTs, dispatchers, firefighters, nurses, and emergency medical professionals who serve our communities each and every day.

This year’s theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” is a reminder that emergency medical services are about more than responding to emergencies. EMS professionals provide lifesaving care, comfort families during difficult moments, and work alongside hospitals, law enforcement, and fire departments to keep our communities safe and healthy.

To all those serving in EMS across the 24th Assembly District, Wisconsin, and our nation: thank you for your dedication, professionalism, compassion, and willingness to answer the call at any hour. We are grateful for your service and the sacrifices you and your families make on behalf of others.
