How tight is too tight for car seat straps? Are those mirrors to watch your kid from the front seat dangerous? What’s better, securing a car seat with anchor straps or the seat belt?

Colorado state data shows that most parents are making mistakes that put the safety of their children at risk in the event of a crash. That’s why 16 new techs underwent training this week to become certified as child passenger safety technicians. Learn more at CarSeatsColorado.com

Today Gov. Polis signed a House Bill expanding the Move Over, Slow Down law, which will take effect later this year!

The law will apply to ALL stationary vehicles with emergency or warning lights flashing - not just service and emergency vehicles!

This means YOU! If you’re broken down with hazards on, this new expansion will protect you - requiring vehicles to Move Over, or Slow Down.

This is incredible news for the people of as we work to make drivers safe on our roadways.

Today Fort Morgan Fire was able to pay it forward and help out a neighboring department by donating our older Engine. With the City Council's approval and the purchasing of a new Engine we were able to make it happen and give Hillrose Snyder Volunteer Fire Department our unused Engine. They took delivery of our old 920 today and plan to use it as a front line Engine for their District. This truck had served the City of Fort Morgan since 1989 and now has a new home. Thanks again to City Council for the approval and Hillrose Fire for giving it a good home.

With all the snow that we have received lately, please remember to remove the snow from around fire hydrants. When seconds count we would rather not be searching for a fire hydrant that is completely covered with snow.

We would like to thank Wiggins fire, Brush fire, Darrin Neb excavating, and the City of Fort Morgan street dept for their invaluable help during the fires today.

On Sunday, July 24th 2022, a Fort Morgan First Responder was in a severe car accident. Myra, a Volunteer Fire Fighter has suffered life altering injuries which will effect her daily life from here on out. She is a compassionate human who has dedicated the last year to serving her community. Myra selflessly responds to the residents of Fort Morgan when they call upon her in their moments of need. She was airlifted to Denver from the scene of her accident, where she has battled to adapt to her new way of life.
Myra will be coming home soon and needs your help! Due to the extent of her injuries her family will need to get her back and forth to Denver for several upcoming doctor appointments and future procedures.
We are asking for our community to come together and lift Myra up and return the kindness she has bestowed upon all of us. No amount is too small; even a “share” goes along way. Please help us, help Myra, as she recovers and learns to navigate this new way of life.

Here is the go fund me page or if you would like there is also a account set up at Bank of Colorado under the name Micaela Pablo-Andres.

Please be extra cautious not only tomorrow but days to come with no moisture we have been extremely busy. So please NO BURNING.

Morgan County is under Extreme fire danger. We are under RED FLAG warning through Friday evening at 09:00 PM. There is NO Open Burning.

Friday's forecast includes:
..EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FIRE-WEATHER EPISODE ON FRIDAY ACROSS THE FOOTHILLS AND PLAINS...
..VERY STRONG WINDS ACROSS THE EASTERN PLAINS ON FRIDAY...

On Friday, high-impact and dangerous weather conditions are
likely across a large part of northeast Colorado.

From late Friday morning through Friday afternoon and Friday
evening, an episode of extremely dangerous fire-weather conditions is expected across the foothills and plains. A volatile
combination of 50-60 mph southerly wind gusts, temperatures in the upper 70s to the 80s, and widespread relative humidity of 7 to 11percent will support the potential for extreme fire behavior
including very rapid fire spread.
