When to call 911:

Serious medical problems: Chest pain, seizure, severe bleeding.

Fire: Any type of fire (building, car, etc.).

Life-threatening situations: Fights,
situations involving weapons.
Crimes in progress: Reporting a crime as it is happening.

When NOT to call 911:

Fireworks as a nuisance: If fireworks are simply loud or bothering you, but not causing immediate danger.

Scared or annoyed pets: If a pet is scared by fireworks, this is not an emergency for 911.

General complaints: If you are simply annoyed by fireworks or have a general complaint, contact the non-emergency line.

Why this matters:

Prioritizing emergency response:

Calling 911 for non-emergencies can delay help for those in genuine need.

Freeing up resources:

Reducing non-emergency calls allows dispatchers to focus on real emergencies.

Ensuring safety:

By using 911 appropriately, everyone can help ensure that help is available when it's truly needed.
