We would like to remind everyone again of the burn ban that is in effect county wide. The City of Fredericktown burn season is suspended indefinitely until dry weather conditions improve. Several fires have been reported since the ban was put into place. We ask for everyone's understanding and help in abiding by these measures to reduce the risk of uncontrolled fires.
The Department got to facilitate the Fredericktown Elementary students today at the fire station for Fire Safety Week. The kids split up in to three groups where they learned about fire safety with instruction and got to spray some water. This years theme was “fire won’t wait, plan your escape”. Thank you for letting us take a little time to teach such good lessons to your students.
A Burn Ban has been issued for the City of Fredericktown, MO. The Madison County Commissioner's have also issued a burn ban for Madison County, MO. These bans are in effect until further notice!
Red Flag Warning for Thursday, October 13th-
Outdoor Burning is highly discouraged! Despite the light rain that fell Wednesday, our region is still considered to be in abnormally dry/drought conditions. The forecasted low dew points and windy weather will make for fast fire spread across the area.

The Fredericktown Fire Department responded to a residential fire earlier this afternoon. The fire was contained to the garage and was partially extinguished by the resident prior to the departments arrival. No injuries were reported. We appreciate the assistance from Madison County Ambulance District, Fredericktown Police Department and Madison County 911.
Come out and support the riders as they come through town heading to Perryville for the Memorial Vietnam Veteran Wall Ride.
Don't forget about the Vietnam Wall Run that is coming through Fredericktown Friday and Saturday! The Fredericktown Fire Department will be assisting along the route with presenting the flag from ladder 870.
9/11/01 - Never Forget
The Fredericktown Fire Department wishes everyone a safe and happy Labor Day!
This afternoon the Fredericktown Fire Department assisted in the funeral procession for Fred Stoffregen. Mr. Stoffregen was known by many in our community. He served our region for over 29 years with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, retiring as a Corporal in 2019. Our department extends condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Stoffregen.
⚠️ North Main Street from Court Square to La Chance Street is closed due to power lines and poles being down in the roadway. Strong winds brought down the poles in the storm that is ongoing this afternoon. The outage assosciated with the downed poles will be isolated.
While the number of homes effected by Thursday's flash flooding were relatively isolated the impacts are still significant to those victims. If your home took on water during the flood (residents in Holmes Subdivision and parts of East College Ave) you've likely been visited by the American Red Cross. The next step in receiving assistance from the American Red Cross is calling 1 800 RED CROSS ( 1-800-733-2767) and opening a claim/event with them.
The Fredericktown Fire Department has been handling a high number of calls beginning at roughly 3am this morning related to the strong thunderstorms and flash flooding. Extensive flash flooding effected the Holmes Subdivision as well as homes and businesses along Saline Creek and a creek along South Mine La Motte. Crews consisting of the City of Fredericktown Street Department, members of the fire department, and several volunteers evacuated 21 people from the flood waters. Numerous other homes and apartment residents chose to stay in their homes due to the water beginning to recede. The department also responded to numerous vehicles stranded in high water. Other calls were downed trees, powerlines, and an investigation of smoke in a commercial building that was inundated with flood waters. Miraculously no injuries have been reported at this time. We appreciate the assistance from the City of Fredericktown, Fredericktown Police Department, Missouri Department of Conservation, Madison County Ambulance District, and of course Madison County 911 for their fine work managing the numerous calls they were receiving.
A Flash Flood Warning is in effect! Numerous roadways are flooded and impassible in Fredericktown. Never drive through a flooded roadway! Travel is not recommended at this time.

4th of July Weekend is here! The Fredericktown Fire Department would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Independence Day! Our area is nearing moderate drought conditions so be mindful of the increased risk of fires stemming from the discharge of fireworks. Firework use is not permitted in the City of Fredericktown per ordinance. However, visit the Rotary Park in Fredericktown Sunday July 3rd for games, food, and most importantly fireworks!
Introducing our "new to us" rescue pumper, unit 850. This truck is a 2003 American LaFrance which is replacing our 1986 Pierce. 850 has a multitude of beneficial features including 750 gallons of water, 1500 gallon per minute pump, remote controlled master stream, PTO powered generator, a retractable light tower, and plenty of storeage. Extrication tools were included in the purchase and are "pre-plumbed" off the back of the truck. At last night's meeting firefighters began familiarizing themselves with all of the trucks features.

Fredericktown Fire's training this week included drafting water and relay pumping. The majority of our fires we access our cities fire hydrants, however occasionally we find ourselves in rural settings with limited or no public water supply. This requires the need to pump out of a body of water or from a portable water tank.

Just a reminder since pool season is here, the Fredericktown Fire Department does not fill pools! We use chemicals to treat our water tanks that you wouldn't want in your pool. Additionally, there are liability issues with using our equipment for private and non emergency uses.
Trucks are washed, waxed, and looking great! We hope to see everyone in the Fredericktown Azalea Festival Parade at 2pm!

The Fredericktown Fire Department has cleared the scene of an incident at the Fredericktown Regional Airport this afternoon. The incident is under investigation however no life threatening injuries were reported.

Fredericktown Fire Department responded to an approximate 6 acre field/brush fire earlier this afternoon. The fire quickly spread to the dry grass and strong winds. The cause of the fire was found to be a bird that attempted to catch a snake. The animals then came in contact with powerlines causing arcing and inturn the fire.

Warmer weather is allowing the department to get outside during its biweekly training meetings. At last night's training, firefighters reviewed on establishing a water supply for Pumper 860. Crews also reviewed setting up a master stream device such as our BlitzFire nozzle.

The Fredericktown Fire Department performed its annual hose testing today. This year the department enlisted the services of FireCatt to accomplish testing all 12,350 feet of hose in one day. Testing usually takes the department several months to complete and uses many training meetings to accomplish. Also a big THANK YOU to Cap America for allowing us to use their lot today!
