Today is the 96th anniversary of the founding of The Fredericktown Fire Department. In 1926 the department was stationed on West Main St. where the city council chambers currently are housed. The department's only engine was a 1921 Ford Model T and the firefighters' only form of turnout gear was helmets and raincoats. Our department along with the fire service as a whole has seen many changes and advancements over the years. Our department now boasts a fleet of 5 apparatus including two fire engines, a ladder, a light rescue, and a brush truck. We have a roster of 20 volunteer firefighters, and currently hold an ISO rating of 4. The one constant over the last 96 years is our dedication to protecting and serving our community. We appreciate the never-ending support and are looking forward to another great year of working hard to serve our community.
