At the Marshall County Treasurer’s office, we serve all Marshall County citizens with property tax and motor vehicle inquiries, payments and transactions. We will be an advocate for each customer we encounter and a liaison between them and the Code of the State of Iowa and Departments of Transportation and Revenue. We will offer abundant inform

ation to our customers so they are equipped to develop solutions to their questions and needs. Our positive, professional and knowledgeable employees will provide each customer, service with a smile and uphold public trust in local government. We will maintain a positive, fair, and service oriented work environment, with respect for one another and selfless teamwork. We will always strive to make local government more efficient and effective to save Marshall County taxpayers’ time and money. Tomlinson took office of Marshall County Treasurer on January 1st, 2023. As Treasurer, Deann is responsible for the receipt, management, disbursement, reporting and investment for all monies payable to Marshall County. The Treasurer's Office acts as a central depository for all Marshall County departments and provides cash and fund management and audit support. The Marshall County Treasurer's Office consists of two divisions, the Property Tax Department and the Motor Vehicle Department. The Property Tax Department Administers the Following Responsibilities:

• Collection of Taxes on:
o Real Estate Property, Mobile Homes, Utilities, Computer Equipment, Industrial Machinery, Grain, and Buildings on Leased Land

• Collections on County and City Special Assessments
• Conduct the Marshall County Annual Tax Sale
• Process Tax Sale Redemptions & Property Tax Suspensions and Issue Tax Sale Deeds
• Prepare Plat & Mobile Home Tax Clearances
• Administer the Iowa Tax Credit Program Based on Age & Income

The Motor Vehicle Department Administers the Following Responsibilities:

• Issue Vehicle Titles, Registration Renewals, Junking Certificates
• Notates and Releases Security Interests
• Collection of Use Tax, Registration & Document Fees
• Process Credits & Refunds of Vehicles Transferred
• Serves as an Agent of the Iowa Departments of Transportation & Revenue

‼️ REMINDER ‼️ PROPERTY TAXES ARE DUE NO LATER THAN APRIL 1, 2024 🗓 TO AVOID PENALTY.

Since March 31st falls on a weekend, April 1st is considered a grace day.

📈 Unpaid taxes will be assessed a penalty of 1.5% on April 2, 2024 and accrue an additional 1.5% fee for each month the payment is late.

Ways to Pay:
📫 By Mail,📨 (with an April 1st postmark)

💁‍♀️Pay in Person Monday thru Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm

Don't be that person with multiple registration stickers circling your rear license plate. Just put the new annual sticker right over the old one. Or you can remove the old one and put the new one in its place.

Marshall County Offices formerly at First Interstate Bank are closed to public today, tomorrow, and Monday, to move back to the Courthouse.

We will reopen to the public in the Courthouse on Tuesday, May 23rd.

You can still renew your vehicle registration or pay property tax online at iowatreasurer.org or by mail!

Thank you for understanding, and we can’t wait to see you in our new office located on 1st floor, just inside the south entrance!

Join our team in the Marshall County Treasurer’s Office to gain financial experience while serving your local government to open doors of opportunities for your future!
Applications are being accepted for a Full Time Universal Clerk position in the Marshall County Treasurer’s office. This position issues motor vehicle and mobile home titles, registrations, and liens in the Motor Vehicle Department. This position also accepts and processes tax collections and performs various other Treasurer Office duties.
Applicants must have strong math, analytical and customer service skills, work in compliance with code of Iowa, rules and procedures and have proficient computer skills, which include Microsoft Office programs.

Due to the First Interstate Bank being closed for President’s Day, the Marshall County Courthouse Offices located at the First Interstate Bank, 2nd Floor, will be closed to the public on Monday, February 20th.

We will be available via phone and email. Please leave a voice mail if your call isn’t answered so it can be returned later as there are other meetings occurring on this date as well.
