At the Marshall County Treasurer’s office, we serve all Marshall County citizens with property tax and motor vehicle inquiries, payments and transactions. We will be an advocate for each customer we encounter and a liaison between them and the Code of the State of Iowa and Departments of Transportation and Revenue. We will offer abundant inform
ation to our customers so they are equipped to develop solutions to their questions and needs. We will always strive to make local government more efficient and effective to save Marshall County taxpayers’ time and money. Tomlinson took office of Marshall County Treasurer on January 1st, 2023. As Treasurer, Deann is responsible for the receipt, management, disbursement, reporting and investment for all monies payable to Marshall County. The Treasurer's Office acts as a central depository for all Marshall County departments and provides cash and fund management and audit support. The Marshall County Treasurer's Office consists of two divisions, the Property Tax Department and the Motor Vehicle Department. The Property Tax Department Administers the Following Responsibilities:
• Collection of Taxes on:
o Real Estate Property, Mobile Homes, Utilities, Computer Equipment, Industrial Machinery, Grain, and Buildings on Leased Land
• Collections on County and City Special Assessments
• Conduct the Marshall County Annual Tax Sale
• Process Tax Sale Redemptions & Property Tax Suspensions and Issue Tax Sale Deeds
• Prepare Plat & Mobile Home Tax Clearances
• Administer the Iowa Tax Credit Program Based on Age & Income
The Motor Vehicle Department Administers the Following Responsibilities:
• Issue Vehicle Titles, Registration Renewals, Junking Certificates
• Notates and Releases Security Interests
• Collection of Use Tax, Registration & Document Fees
• Process Credits & Refunds of Vehicles Transferred
• Serves as an Agent of the Iowa Departments of Transportation & Revenue
