I do not have an opponent this election cycle and as a Justice of the Peace, I'm not allowed to publicly endorse other candidates for election.
My private support and encouragement was always good in the past when it was for "them". I don't want to get drawn into their political fight.

You're My Boss

As a public servant and elected official, I never forget who I work for: you, the voter.

I'm running for a fifth (and final) term as Justice of the Peace. This office doesn't belong to me. It isn't something I'm entitled to keep or pass on to someone else. The people decide who serves through the election process.

One challenge for judicial elections is that it can be difficult for voters to evaluate how judges are performing. That's why I encourage you to ask questions.

At the San Tan Valley Chamber Candidate Forum this Wednesday, don't just ask what types of cases we hear or how busy the court is. Ask questions that help measure performance and accountability:
How many cases were filed in your court?

How many cases were resolved?

Is your court meeting statewide time standards for resolving cases?

What is your taxpayer-funded budget?

How does your budget compare to similar courts?

If there are differences, why?

What steps are you taking to be fiscally responsible?

If your court is not meeting time standards, what are you doing to correct it?

These are basic administrative questions every elected Justice of the Peace should be able to answer.

As voters, you deserve more than general statements about being busy. You deserve meaningful information that helps you evaluate whether your elected officials are managing public resources responsibly and serving the community effectively.

We work for you, so ask questions. If a candidate cannot answer these basic questions about the court they manage, that may tell you something important.

Attending my 16th AZ Supreme Court Judicial Conference. Time sure does go by quickly. Enjoyed dinner on the patio with good friend and Apache Junction Justice Court (AJJC) Judge Kelly Gremmel. I started as JP in January 2010 at the AJJC before the precinct was split into two courts, AJJC and PioneerJustice Court. Kelly and I are blessed to be running for re-election unopposed this year. Kelly’s 2nd term and my 5th and final term.
The Marriott Starr Pass resort in Tucson is beautiful and they have some nice hiking trails steps from the front door.
