February 2026 Case Filing and Revenue Report for the Pioneer Justice Court.

Period Covered: February 1 - February 28, 2026

Case Filings:
In February 2026, the Pioneer Justice Court received 1,264 new case filings.

The breakdown of these filings by case type is as follows:
Civil Traffic: 447
Criminal Traffic: 55
DUI: 9
Additional Misdemeanors: 161
Eviction Actions: 64
Small Claims: 13
Additional Civil Filings: 484
Orders of Protection: 25
Injunctions Against Harassment: 6

Fiscal Year 2026 Summary:
For the first eight months of fiscal year 2026, the court has processed a total of 12,358 case filings.

Revenue Collected:
For the month of February, the court collected $226,270 in fines, fees, and restitution. In accordance with state law, half of this revenue is disbursed to the Arizona State government, supporting various funds for:
Prison construction
Clean elections
Pension funds
Peace officer training
Public safety equipment
Victim rights
Other state-mandated funds

As the elected Justice of the Peace for Precinct #1 in San Tan Valley/Pinal-QC, I am committed to transparency and will continue to provide monthly updates on court activity and revenues. Our dedicated team of 14 staff members work to operate the court in an efficient and effective manner.

Attended the Pinal County Republican Women's meeting this week. Great speakers and relevant information regarding elections and law enforcement. Recorder Dana Lewis and Sheriff Ross Teeple are tireless in their efforts to keep the public informed and answer questions. Katherine Haley (Candidate for AZ State Treasurer) was also on hand to share information about her campaign. Great meeting.

In January 2026, the Pioneer Justice Court received 1,427 new case filings.

The breakdown of these filings by case type is as follows:

Criminal Traffic: 72
DUI: 45
Additional Misdemeanors: 136
Eviction Actions: 77
Small Claims: 18
Additional Civil Filings: 451
Orders of Protection: 23
Injunctions Against Harassment: 12

Fiscal Year 2026 Summary:
For the first seven months of fiscal year 2026, the court has taken in a total of 11,094 case filings.

Former Sheriff Lamb wasn't able to make it to our campaign kickoff as planned this past weekend but was kind enough to share a video recording that was played for the crowd.

We had an amazing campaign kickoff yesterday at San Tan Flat. Humbled by the support from our community with over 350 guests at our rally. I appreciate the support from Congressman Andy Biggs and former Sheriff Lamb and others. My brother Paul Babeu MC'd the event. Thank You!

Google reviews can always be a little tricky for a court given the nature of what we do. We adjudicate cases and often there is on side that prevails over the other and sometimes the other party is not happy. I appreciate when we get reviews that reference a court process, interaction with court personnel or demeanor.
Attached is a recent Google review from individuals that had contact with our Pioneer Justice Court. I appreciate our court staff and the work they do every day and our Constable Mal Osgood who definitely cares about our community.

My friend and colleague Judge John Ellsworth passed away on New Years Eve. John retired as the JP for the Casa Grande Justice Court in early 2025 after 10 years of service on the bench. John's prior service included the Pinal County Sheriff's Office, Casa Grande PD, and our US military.
I was blessed to work with John for the past 10 years while he served as JP for the Casa Grande Justice Court. John was a great leader and enjoyed mentoring those around him.
You could never talk with John without him sharing a story or two and they were always funny and had meaning.
John had several distinguished titles over his career but I know the most meaningful ones for him were Father, Grandfather, and Husband. John cherished his family and talked about them often. He would light up when sharing about any of them.
While the loss is great and weighs heavy, we have gained a Warrior Angel who I know was welcomed into heaven ready to watch over his family and community.
We will miss you John. My love and sympathies are with his beautiful bride Terry and his amazing children and grandchildren. ❤️
