Adults and Youth who exhibited in Open Class and ALL youth that participated in 4-H: Interview Judging, Creative Cooks, Fashion R***e, Shooting Sports Contests and Livestock Shows at the Morgan County Fair have a premium. Washing poultry can cause dangerous germs to splash onto other surfaces of your kitchen. While cooking the poultry will kill these germs; if they get onto the counter or nearby produce that will not be cooked, you could end up eating some of them.

Cross-contamination occurs when bacteria or other microorganisms are transferred from one substance or object to another, with harmful effect. Make sure that you stock your fridge with ready-to-eat foods on top and foods that still need to be cooked on the bottom. This can help prevent accidental cross-contamination!

Morgan County 4-H has 6 boxes of Palisade peaches for sale! $38 for a 20 lb box. Pickup now until 7, or 8-4 tomorrow September 2nd, at the Extension Office. All proceeds benefit the youth involved in Morgan County 4-H!

Morgan County Extension is sponsoring A Healthier Weigh, an educational program targeted at health and fitness. In previous years, participants lost an average of 4% of their beginning weight and 6.5% of their beginning waist measurement through the course of this program. This is an excellent program to assist with any fitness or weight-related new year's resolutions! We will hold weigh-ins on January 3rd and 4th and the weigh-outs will take place on April 4th and 5th. If you are interested in participating or have any questions, please stop by the extension office or email me at [email protected].
