University Police Services Official page of University Police Department - Southern Command. Not monitored 24/7. University Police Services is a full-service police department.

University police officers are Category I peace officers in the state of Nevada and are required to complete a 22-week, 750-hour state Peace Officers’ Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) academy program as well as pass 560 hours of field training to qualify as a University Police Officer I. Our officers are armed and have the same police powers as Las Vegas Metro and Henderson Police.

Congratulations to our first graduating Community Police Academy class!

UPD is incredibly proud to celebrate the launch of this exciting program and recognize the community members who completed the academy and received their certificates.

This first class helped set the foundation for what we hope will continue to be a meaningful way to connect, learn, and build stronger relationships with the communities we serve.

Congratulations again to our graduates! We are excited to keep the momentum going and look forward to welcoming our next Community Police Academy class, taking place September 8 through October 27.

Our team had an incredible time at Pack the Mack at Thomas & Mack Center, joining our community to help ensure every child in the Las Vegas Valley starts the school year confident, prepared, and ready to learn.

This amazing event provided 15,000 free backpacks and school supplies, meals for students, free haircuts, dental screenings, and sports physicals for selected students. We were proud to attend, support this important initiative, and donate thousands of safety items to help local families.

This month our C.O.P.S. team had a busy month giving back!

Together, they:

•Picked up toy donations from Foster Kinship
•Donated toys to the Food Pantry to help bring smiles to children in our community
•Delivered toys to the Boys & Girls Club
•Donated toys to Sunrise Children’s Hospital
•Received a generous water donation from our partners at LVMPD
•Received additional drink and water donations from Target

A huge thank you to Foster Kinship, LVMPD, Target, and everyone who helps us support the communities we serve. Partnerships like these make a lasting impact, and we’re proud to be part of it 🧸💙
