People are talking about taking down Konocti Lookout. It is a Historical Landmark. So, I do not think it can be taken down without major involvement. What are your thoughts?

🌲 Exciting Job Opportunity in Gila National Forest 🌲
From Ashley Applethingy-Silfies -- Please message me directly with your first and last name, email address and phone number. I can provide more info and will pass along your info to manager. Self suffiency is a huge part of the job so carefully read the text below before asking questions and google about fire lookouts if you have basic questions.

I have a unique paid job opportunity for you at Eagle Peak Fire lookout tower in the Gila National Forest's Reserve Ranger District in New Mexico. We are looking for someone willing to take on a wildland fire lookout role, and training will be provided. The position involves living in the tower, driving up (4wd required), and it's an emergency hire with no formal application process. This is an excellent chance for those who missed applying for the season to get involved. Pay is 14-20$ per hour depending on experience + opportunity for lots of overtime.

The job starts around May and concludes around August. Per diem possibly an option for food but not guaranteed, a vehicle is not provided and you must provide your own 4wd. No previous fire experience or specific education is required, aside from a high school diploma. The tower is open to individuals with children, but they must reside in the tower. Keep in mind that it's a small, off-grid space with semi reliable solar electric power and a propane fridge. Pets are allowed, but don’t push the boundary on type or quantity (no stock animals or many large dogs for example). I personally have 2 cats They must be clean, vaccinated and not damage historic structures.

This opportunity has arisen due to the unfortunate passing of the person who staffed the tower for 15+ years. In recent times, they've had individuals stay for 1-2 years, and the need for a dedicated person is urgent. Don't miss out on this chance to contribute to the Gila National Forest community!

Lake County! You are blessed! The United States Forest Service is going to rebuild "High Glade Fire Lookout". The Forest Service Values lookouts and understands thier place in protecting people and properties.

The Northern part of Lake County will be covered for Wildfire detection. The Southern parts not so much.

A great big "Shout Out" to the US Forest Service.
You are Professional, and you take care of Lake County residents.

I just want to Thank the United States Forest Service, Plumas National Forest, for supporting us 100% as we work to rebuild and restore Argentine Rock Lookout, Quincy, Ca.

We have received a grant for approximately $130k and we are working hard to be responsible and restore Argentine Lookout to historical standards.

You can see Argentine Lookout at Argentinelookout.org . It's amazing what cooperation and local partnerships can accomplish.

Scenically perched on a rocky peak on Grizzly Ridge, on the Mt. Hough Ranger District of the Plumas National Forest, Argentine Rock Lookout was in active service until 1980. Construction on the 11' enclosed tower with C-3 cab and catwalk was begun in 1934 and first staffed in 1936. She WILL rise fro...

Calfire Lake Napa Unit Chief, Mike Marcucci does not want to fix Konocti Fire Lookout. Therefore, it must be assumed that he does not care about the wildfires that ravage Lake County yearly, or the property loss. Even though, Calfire received over 60 Million dollars to repair infrastructure. Lake County Citizens are just not that important to Chief Marcucci.

In 2018, US Forest Service lost High Glade Lookout to the Camp Fire. The US Forest Service is rebuilding a new Fire Lookout at High Glade. Why does the Forest Service see the value in Fire Lookouts and Calfire does not. Other Calfire Units have Fire Lookouts, but not Lake County. Why?

Call Chief Marcucci and tell him to fix Konocti Fire Lookout! He can be reached at:
