Today marks 25 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001.
We remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives that day, including the 343 FDNY firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while answering the call. We also remember those who responded in the days, weeks, and months that followed, and those we have lost since from 9/11-related illnesses.
For those of us in the fire service, September 11 is a day that will always mean something a little different. It reminds us of the incredible courage and sacrifice shown that day and the commitment we make to be there for others when they need us most.
25 years later, we continue to remember them, honor their sacrifice, and make sure their legacy is never forgotten.
