We, as members of the Valparaiso University community, are committed to standing up for human rights. Although we believe in raising awareness, we are also committed to advocacy and action.
Internationally, we are people from across the world standing up for humanity and human rights. Our purpose is to protect people wherever justice, freedom, truth and dignity are denied. With more than 3 million supporters, activists and volunteers in over 150 countries, and complete independence from government, corporate or national interests, we work to protect human rights worldwide. Our vision is of a world in which every person - regardless of race, religion, gender, or ethnicity - enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights standards. * Source: http://www.amnesty.org/en/who-we-are

Amnesty International, International Law Society, and Women Law Student Association are pleased to invite you to a screening of I Came to Testify. A film in the groundbreaking special series, Women, War, and Peace, which is

Hello Everyone,
This Thursday and Friday (October 27th and 28th), Amnesty International will be collecting donations for St. Jude House, a Family Violence Shelter and Prevention Center in Crown Point, Indiana. Located just southwest of Valparaiso, St. Jude House serves as a safe shelter for victims of domestic violence and their dependent children. St. Jude House offers shelter and support to victims as they pursue violence-free lives. Nearly 400 adults and children come to St. Jude house seeking safety and peace each year.
As you can imagine, many times those seeking shelter with their dependent children are required to leave their home suddenly with little or none of their personal belongings. Please be as generous as you can. Needed items include the following:
Critically Needed Items: Gift cards for pharmacy, groceries and gas; baby wash and shampoo; baby lotion; new bed pillows; alarm clocks; facial tissue; Ramen noodles; deodorant; cereal; and, hair conditioner.
Ongoing Needs: Adult and child gently worn shoes; used cell phones; body wash; new underware/socks for adults and children; postage stamps; blankets (twin); laundry soap; hair brushes; apple juice; batteries; coffee and creamer; new toys for boys' birthdays, ages 1yr - teen.
Thank you.

"The struggle for justice doesn't end with me. This struggle is for all the Troy Davises who came before me and all the ones who will come after me. I'm in good spirits and I'm prayerful and at peace. But I will not stop fighting until I've taken my last breath."
