🌟Celebrating Older Americans Month🌟
This May let’s honor the wisdom, strength and contributions of our elders! Their resilience, stories and love shape our communities and inspire us every day.
Take a moment to appreciate the seniors in your life and the invaluable role they play!
Below we share some special moments from our staff!
Communications Manager Claudia Pena shares a picture with her grandparents, “My grandparents are incredibly special to me. They are not just a link to my family tree; they are my steadfast supporters, always ready to listen when I’m struggling and to encourage me to reach my potential. Their daily inspiration drives me to excel and to show kindness to everyone I meet. I am deeply thankful for their unwavering love, patience, and the invaluable lessons they share from their life experiences. These lessons help me learn from their mistakes and guide me to become a better person, daughter, sister, and mother. I can't imagine my life without them, and I am endlessly grateful for their profound impact on who I am today.”
Sandy Casalin, AmeriCorps Seniors Volunteer Coordinator, shares a picture of her celebrating her mother’s 90th birthday!
If you’d like to show gratitude in other ways, you can donate to our Sweet Links campaign. Sweet Links is all about making connections and creating smiles that last a lifetime!

Congratulations to our 12th Annual Trivia Night winners! Jim Starin and his team “Stay Out of The Kitchen” won with 450 points on topics like geography, animals, sports, and history! Jim Starin is not only a NWICA Board member but also the Housing Division Board Chair.

“I am still super excited my team won the trivia contest, but not surprised when you see our team had randomly assembled complementary skills. Even better, the event raised $25,000 to help fund more affordable housing in Northwest Indiana!” said Jim.

Congratulations again to the "Stay Out of The Kitchen" team for knocking out the competition!
