New Contract Opportunity Available!
Registered Dietician Nutritionist

The Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities of Southwest Washington (AAADSW) is seeking to contract with a licensed Registered Dietician Nutritionist. One qualified provider will be selected to contract for as early as September 1, 2026 through September 30, 2028, with the option to renew the contract thereafter.

The contractor will regularly review meal menus and provide some in person technical assistance (such as staff training and nutrition education) to program staff at meal sites in Cowlitz, Wahkiakum, Skamania, and Klickitat counties in SW Washington. Technical assistance may include:
1) Nutrition education presentations to AAADSW clients;
2) Nutrition outreach activities;
3) Assisting nutrition contractors to comply with program standards.

Eligible submitters must meet all qualifications and submit all required documents to be considered for contract. Organizations that have been debarred, suspended, proposed for debarment, declared ineligible or excluded from participating in a contract by any Federal or Washington State agency will not be considered.

It's Motivation Monday!

Join us this week for our EnhanceFitness classes -- they are free and fun!

EnhanceFitness is an evidence-based group exercise program. It helps older adults (age 60 plus) become more active, energized and empowered to sustain independent lives. All older adults are welcome. Instructors tailor exercises to ability, from seated to full mobility.

Pre-registration is not required and there is no cost to attend. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early for your first class to complete registration on-site.

WA Cares Fund benefits are now available. Once you have been approved to start using your benefits, you can choose when and how to use them.

You can hire a caregiver to provide support in your home or you can get care in an adult family home, assisted living facility or nursing home. You can use your benefit for services like home modifications, home-delivered meals, transportation and more. You can also buy supplies, equipment or assistive technology like weighted utensils or a medication device.

Our Kinship Caregiver Support Group meets this week!

This group is guided by a facilitator and offers family caregivers a safe place to connect with other caregivers; share feelings and concerns; discuss ways of coping with challenges, stresses and demands on your time; and learn about community resources. There is no cost to attend.

Senior Resource Fair to be held in Woodland:

Woodland residents and seniors will have an opportunity to learn about local resources and support services during a Senior Resource Fair from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at the Woodland Community Library, 411 Lakeshore Drive.

The event will bring together organizations offering assistance for seniors and their families, including the Washington Department of Social and Health Services, Area Agency on Aging & Disabilities of Southwest Washington, Lower Columbia CAP, Woodland VFW Post 1927, Cascade Senior Living Advisors, Widows Support Circle and the Senior Medical Equipment Closet.

Attendees can learn about food assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, cash grants and employment support through Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, disability cash assistance, senior medical programs and EBT card services.

Other resources include information about caregiver classes and support, dementia resources, in-home assistance and classes covering topics of concern for older adults and their families.

The fair is brought to the community by the Woodland Senior Enrichment Group. Organizers encourage seniors and their loved ones to bring questions and learn about resources they may not know are available.
