📚🐾 Reading is better with a furry friend by your side.

Hill Road Library had some very special four-legged visitors!

Kids got to pick out their favorite book, cozy up with a therapy dog, and enjoy a one-on-one reading session with a listener who’s all ears… no judgment, just tail wags.

It was a pawsitively perfect afternoon! 🐾✨

Check the calendar (link in our bio) to explore all the fun events happening at Hill Road Library, or to find the next PAWS for Reading session at your nearest branch!

✨ Highlight of the Week ✨

This past Wednesday, the Ventura County Library had the honor of hosting a powerful evening with Dr. Lily Anne Welty Tamai at the Museum of Ventura County's Agriculture Museum in Santa Paula.

As part of the 2026 One Book, One Coast program centered around George Takei's graphic memoir They Called Us Enemy, Dr. Tamai brought Ventura County's own Japanese American history to life, sharing the profound and lasting impact of Executive Order 9066 on families, farms, and communities right here in our own backyard.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this evening possible:
🏛️ Museum of Ventura County
📚 Blanchard Community Library 🌸 Japanese American Citizens League,Ventura County Chapter
🎓 John Spoor Broome Library
🌏 Asian American Pacific Islander Association at CSUCI 📖 Chicano Studies Department at CSUCI

And the conversation isn't over yet! 🎉

🔴 LIVE STREAM | Author Talk with George Takei
📅 May 31 | 2:00 p.m.

Don't miss your chance to hear from the author himself, tune in and join online!
