The Sequoyah County Women's Group met last Thursday, June 4 at the Western Sizzler in Sallisaw. The meeting was called to order at 7pm by vice-chirmn John Horn. We discussed the annual barbecue and the details are coming together. Contact Ann or John,9186491099 . There will be no July meeting because of the closeness of the 4th. We also gave areport on the Distrct and State Meetings. Next meeting will be in August -we will have Mr. Willhite, the new 2nd district chairman, and Brenda Callahan, co-chair that night . They will be telling us what is going on at state and district-so mark your calendars -we want a good turnout. Additonally, we are looking for projects, jmoney , and candidates-solook around and bring your ideas to the meetings. Finally, Austin Boren is setting up a Young Democrats Club at theCarll Albert Sallisaw campus.Contact him at 9188393111 if you are interested.

Just read an editorial from Wayne Greene . Oklahoma second district ranks 415 out of 435 congressional districts in life expectancy . 74.5 years compared to 79.5 national . cited lack of rural healthcare. come on Markwayne-please have mercy on the people of eastern Oklahoma!!!!!!!!!!

Did you know?--When you look at the great paintings of Christ, the Virgin Mary, etc. you will always see a fox somewhere in the painting, doing mischief. It was explained that the fox is the symbol for the devil!!!!!! Remind you of anyone we know?

I always thought that part of my civic duty (do the schools even teach civics anymore?) was to vote. Part of that process involves registering. I have heard many discussions concerning the difficulty of registering to vote, but in Oklahoma, the process is very easy. All you need is a photo ID , like a drivers license, military card, school ID,or your SSN. Next, you may go directly to your county election board and process your application, or you may go online at Oklahoma State Election Board , print the application form, follow the instructions, check DEMOCRAT ffand return by mail. In about one week, you will get your voter ID card, swhich is all you need to take to the polls. Amazingly simple, !!!! However, I was shocked to find out that a lot of my close relatives were not registered to vote. Lets get them registered!!!!! Ask your family members if they are registered to vote--you will be amazed and appalled at the number who are not. We have printed some forms off the internet. If you need one, just email us with an address or phone and we will get one to you.

We had a really good 2nd District Convention at the Kerr Mansion just outside Poteau . The Democrats are the party of the people, and if this diverse crowd is a sample, I wouldn't miss any of these meetings for entertainment value alone.!!! thanks to the many folks who made this convention a success!!! The food, lodgings, and entertainment were the best. Now on to the state convention in Oklahoma City at South Oklahoma City Community College on the 29th and 30th of May.
