Meet FF/MTO Jake Bement!
FF/MTO Bement, a Canandaigua native, has 16 years total in the fire service. FF/MTO Bement started as a volunteer with CFD and joined us 4 years ago as a Career Firefighter after 6 years working for a neighboring fire district. Prior to his career as a Firefighter Jake worked for the NYS Department of Transportation as the Health and Safety Representative covering 7 counties. As our Municipal Training Officer Jake provides on duty training for all 4 of our shifts while also fulfilling his daily Firefighter duties. FF/MTO Bement takes great pride in serving the City that he grew up in! When asked what he enjoys about working in Canandaigua he shared, “each day is different, each building is different. No two calls are the same.” Outside of work Jake enjoys spending time with his wife Amanda and two sons (Charlie and Henry). The Bement name has a rich history with CFD, since 1968 there has been a Bement family member working for CFD. One of Jake's most memorable moments is having the privilege to work alongside his father Retired FF Ron Bement and his uncle FF Matt Bement on A-Shift for 2 years.
