📢 City of Victor Community Contribution Program Now Open

The City of Victor is accepting applications for its 2026 Community Contribution Program through September 25, 2026.

The program provides an opportunity for eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations whose services or activities primarily benefit the City of Victor and its residents to request financial support from the City.

📅 Application Deadline: September 25, 2026

Organizations interested in applying can review the program guidelines and eligibility requirements and access the application on the City’s website:

💧 Public Information Sessions: Proposed 2027 Water & Wastewater Rates

We have heard some confusion from Goldfield residents about whether the proposed 2027 rates would result in Goldfield customers receiving a wastewater/sewer charge.

To be clear: Goldfield residents will NOT be charged for wastewater/sewer service. Wastewater rates apply only to customers connected to the City of Victor’s wastewater system.

Goldfield customers are served by the City’s water system, which is why we strongly encourage Goldfield residents to participate in these discussions. The public information sessions will cover both the proposed water and wastewater rates and the findings of the rate study conducted by the Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC).

The City will host three public information sessions at the VICCI Center:

📅 Thursday, October 8 at 6:00 p.m.
📅 Saturday, October 24 at 10:00 a.m.

These sessions are an opportunity to learn more about the proposed 2027 rates, understand why changes are being considered, ask questions, and provide feedback.

🏛️ REMINDER: Miners’ Union Hall Community Discussion – Friday, September 11

The City of Victor invites residents and community members to join us this Friday, September 11, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. at Victor City Hall for a discussion about the future of the historic Victor Miners’ Union Hall.

Shape Architecture, the City’s architect for this project, will lead the discussion and share:

• A review of the building’s current condition
• Potential conceptual floor plans
• Possible approaches to restoring and preserving this important piece of Victor’s history

This is an opportunity to learn more about the building, see what its future could look like, ask questions, and be part of the conversation as the City considers next steps.

🔥 STAGE I FIRE BAN IN EFFECT — SEPTEMBER 2, 2026

Teller County has enacted a Stage I Fire Ban, effective September 2, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. The restrictions apply throughout Teller County, including the City of Victor.

🚫 Prohibited activities include:�• Open burning outside of approved permanent fire rings or fireplaces�• Fireworks of any type, except permitted commercial fireworks within city limits�• Explosives, except permitted mining operations�• Model rockets�• Most ditch burning

✅ Activities still permitted with appropriate precautions include:�• Charcoal and pellet grills, smokers, gas grills and gas fire pits�• Campfires in qualifying permanent/designated fire rings�• Outdoor welding and cutting with approved fire-extinguishing equipment available�• Chainsaw use with approved fire-extinguishing equipment available�• Smoking in areas clear of combustible materials or designated smoking areas

Please remember that having a Teller County Burn Permit does not exempt you from the Stage I restrictions.

With dry conditions continuing, we ask everyone in Victor and the surrounding area to use extra caution and help protect our community.

Stage I Fire Ban in Effect - 9/2/2026

Stage I Fire Ban Restricts Open Burning in Teller County, CO. No open burning of materials not contained in an outdoor fireplace or permanent fire ring. No explosives, fireworks, or model rockets.

1. Open burning is banned on private and public lands in Teller County, State of Colorado, except as allowed for by this Resolution.

2. The following activities are allowed under this Resolution:

a) use of charcoal grills, pellet grills, smokers, gas barbecues, gas firepits, turkey fryers, liquid fueled gas stoves or lanterns, in each case that are at least 10 feet away from combustible materials.
b) Campfires that are contained in a permanent fire ring located in developed and designated picnic and/ or campgrounds on public or private lands for public use. Designated fire rings must be at least 25 feet away from all structures. Fire rings must be less than 3 feet in diameter or 3 feet in length and width, and must be at least 18 inches in depth. A water supply or other approved fire­extinguishing / fire extinguisher must be readily available. All campfires must be attended by a person knowledgeable in the use of fire extinguishing equipment until the fire is completely out.
c) Campfires that are contained in designated fire rings, or permanent brick and mortar fire pits, or fire grates on other private property not used for public picnic areas or campgrounds. Fire rings, pits and grates must be at least 25 feet away from all structures and must be less than 3 feet in diameter or 3 feet in length and width, and must be at least 18 inches in depth. A water supply or other approved fire-extinguishing / fire extinguisher must be readily available. All campfires must be attended by a person knowledgeable in the use of fire extinguishing equipment until the fire is completely out.
d) Fires in fireplaces within buildings anywhere within Teller County.
e) Use of chainsaws with approved fire-extinguishing / fire extinguisher readily available.
f) Outdoor welding or cutting with approved fire-extinguishing / fire extinguisher readily available.
g) Smoking in areas clear of all flammable or combustible materials, or designated smoking areas.

3. The following are prohibited under this Resolution:

a) Burning of materials not contained in an outdoor fireplace or permanent fire ring described in Section 2 above.
b) Use of any explosives (except for permitted mining operations).
c) Use of fireworks of any type (except commercial fireworks within city limits).
d) Firing of model rockets.
e) Burning of irrigation ditches unless completely surrounded by irrigated farmlands where burning is necessary for crop survival.

4. This Resolution shall be enforced by the Sheriff of Teller County or by the administering agencies of state and federal lands located therein. An exemption to this Resolution shall be granted only by the administering agency, and only if the proposed action is deemed by the Sheriff or the state or federal administering agency to be safe.

5. Possession of a current Teller County Burn Permit does not constitute an exemption to this Resolution. Open burning normally regulated by a Teller County Burn Permit is prohibited while this Resolution is in effect.

6. These restrictions on open burning shall be in effect immediately, beginning September 2, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. and shall remain in effect until amended or rescinded by the Board of County Commissioners.

💧 A MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR: INVESTING IN VICTOR’S WATER FUTURE

This week marked an important milestone for Victor and Goldfield with the completion of a nearly $2.2 million investment in our water system, including the replacement of approximately 1.5 miles of critical water distribution main.

Mayor Barbara Manning has shared a letter with our community reflecting on what went into this project, recognizing the tremendous work of City staff, contractors, engineers, operators, and partners, and, most importantly, thanking our residents and businesses for their patience and cooperation throughout construction.

While this project represents a major accomplishment, it is also part of a much larger effort to ensure Victor has reliable water and wastewater infrastructure for generations to come. Significant investments remain ahead, and the City is committed to pursuing grants, partnerships, and sustainable funding to get ahead of infrastructure failures rather than simply responding to emergencies.

Thank you, Victor and Goldfield, for sticking with us through construction, outages, changing schedules, and all the challenges that came with this project.

🎂 A huge thank you to Gold Camp Bakery in Victor for creating this incredible cake for our contractors and City staff!

We are excited to share that the water main replacement project is now complete. Crews will remain onsite over the coming days to finish cleanup and site restoration work.

We are incredibly appreciative of everyone whose hard work, long hours, and dedication made this project possible. We are also incredibly appreciative of our residents and businesses for their patience throughout construction.
