This past Monday, more than 100 golfers gathered at Westwood Country Club for the Field House Classic Golf Tournament in support of the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department. ⛳🚒

We would like to recognize the three Vienna VFD members who participated in the recent mission to rescue trapped civilians in Venezuela after a devastating series of earthquakes. Among the 81 team members who deployed on the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department’s Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Team were our very own Jaimie Gillespie (Plans Team Manager), John Morrison (Public Information Officer), and Zach Smith (Technical Information Specialist).

To successfully coordinate international rescue efforts, teams must be able to quickly develop accurate and actionable information. Jaimie, John, and Zach worked hard to ensure that the Command Staff, Rescue Squads, and other teams and agencies working in-country had the real-time understanding they needed in the effort to locate and rescue victims, and that all communications with the outside world were clear, concise, and correct.

Jaimie, John, and Zach built the wide array of skills needed for this critical work through previous USAR missions and many trainings, and we are incredibly proud of their work on behalf of the people of Venezuela. Our hearts go out to our community members whose families and friends were impacted, and we wish the best to them as Venezuela recovers.

The 2026 Field House Classic: A golf tournament to benefit the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department, is scheduled for July 20th at Westwood Country Club. This is the final call for sponsorships so we can ensure all marketing materials are prepared with your logo/name for the event. Player registration is still open but almost full. You can register your foursome, twosome or single at the same link in the comments. This week, Vienna volunteers took to the EVOC cones course to sharpen the driving skills that keep our community and crews safe. Operators practiced precision backing, tight turns, parallel parking, and narrow driving conditions while building confidence behind the wheels of both Engine 402B and Ambulance 402.

Training like this ensures our volunteers are prepared to safely and effectively operate emergency vehicles. Passing EVOC is the first step to becoming a qualified ambulance or engine driver.

🎉What a fantastic day at our First Annual Mahjong Mania Fundraiser!🎉

On May 20, more than 100 guests joined us at the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department
for an afternoon of fun, friendship, and fundraising. Thanks to the incredible generosity
of our players, sponsors, donors, and volunteers, we raised more than $10,000 to
support the mission of the VVFD!

We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, donated, and helped make this
inaugural event such a success.

Your support was instrumental in helping us exceed our fundraising goals and launch
