“Day 1 on board…” 🚢
You wake up at 5:00 AM.
Not because you have to — because you can’t sleep.
New country.
New job.
New life.
A few hours later you stand at the river, suitcase next to you…
and then you see it for the first time:
Your ship.
You step on board.
Quick welcome, a few instructions — and that’s it.
Cabin → luggage down → straight into it:
👉 Safety briefing
👉 First tasks
👉 New people, new system
Same evening:
your first shift starts.
No warm-up. You’re in.
Exactly like I described in my book -
short introduction, quick handover… and suddenly it’s your responsibility.
It’s not easy.
It’s not always comfortable.
But it’s real.
And for many, it becomes one of the most defining experiences of their life.
The river cruise season has started.
Wishing everyone who just stepped on board
a strong first day and a successful season ahead 🙌🚢
