At LivesNeedSaving.org, we are celebrating #NationalSchoolPictureDay and #TBthursday with a look back at Virginia Beach EMS Basic Life Support Academy Class 03-2014 graduation picture [pre-covid19].

It was a time of handshakes, hugs, standing shoulder to shoulder and no face-mask required.

Jump forward to 2020 and COVID19 restrictions.

Like schools across the country, the Virginia Beach BLS Accredited Training Academy instructional environment looks different and for right now, no group photo of EMT graduates standing shoulder to shoulder & no handshakes from the chief.

COVID19 restriction will pass someday and we will be back to group hugs and photos of our new first responders standing shoulder to shoulder and lots of high-five.

Until then, our evening EMT classes sizes are smaller, involve more virtual on line instructions and all students-instructors are following COVID 19 protocols.

Be especially watchful for people exiting and entering ambulance rear & side doors.

Thank you Chief Budy for the great info.

It’s the last day of August, 2020 & at LivesNeedSaving.org, we “send our best” to Chesapeake Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad “recently retired” life member Kathleen Marie Cope.

Katie began her volunteer service 16 years ago helping the sick & injured before transitioning a few years back to admin-support teams.

In addition to holding multiple admin roles at Rescue 4, Katie was a active recruitment team member & could be counted on to spread the word, “be a VB EMS volunteer & help save lives.”

Happy retirement “Mrs Claus.”

We accept applications for operational & support team volunteer positions.

Have you met Cart 5? More importantly, have you met Cart 5's crew chief, the one and only Andrei? Dedication shows itself in many forms - this one shown in Andrei taking the time to clean, check off, and maintain Cart 5 and all of its components despite just getting off of work this day. Cart 5 is an off-road capable "mini-ambulance" mainly used for local areas and events where one of our ambulances cannot easily access such as the Pungo Strawberry Festival, Pungo Aviation Museum, the American Music Festival, Something in the Water, Hunt Club Farms events, and Amphitheater concerts. Even though Cart 5 isn't seeing much action this time around, it will be ready for its next event thanks to dedicated volunteers like Andrei!
