📬 Ivan, the one and only library gorilla from the Princess Anne Library is still answering fan mail, and he'd love to hear from you! (link below).

🍌In the meantime, Ivan loves snacks and he made a yummy treat that you can make at home too, using fruit, pretzel sticks, nuts, cheese, peanut butter, bread, and of course.... BANANAS! 🍌
Look closely at the photo and see if you can tell how he used them! Ivan also used fruit and pretzels to make a posey for Ms. Shirley, who came to visit today.
Ivan suggests pairing your tasty snack with a favorite book of his by British author, Michael Rosen called "Bananas In My Ears!"

📣Update! VBPL will begin accepting materials at seven branches beginning Monday, June 8! You can return books, audiobooks, music CDs and DVDs to the automated drops at the Bayside, Central, Great Neck, Kempsville, Oceanfront, Princess Anne and TCC/City Joint-Use library locations.

We are not yet able to accept WiFi hotspots, Roku sticks, telescopes or other items that cannot otherwise be returned using the automated drops. No fines will be charged for materials checked out during the closures.

We continue to work with City of Virginia Beach leadership, city departments and the Virginia Beach Department of Health to define procedures necessary to safely and successfully launch a phased reopening plan, including resuming high-demand services such as holds pick-ups. Reopening plans will be announced as soon as possible.

This beautiful wreath was lovingly created by the staff of Princess Anne Area Library in commemoration of the May 31 events of last year. Each forget-me-not flower is made of paper, cut out and assembled on wire to create stems that were attached to the ribbon base.

We wanted to pass on this beautiful view of the Forget-Me-Not symbol that now adorns Mount Trashmore. The City created this design as a tribute to the events surrounding May 31, 2019. The “Forget-Me-Not” flower symbolizes remembrance and love, and features elements representing the 17 victims (those we lost, and those that were injured), and the community that came together in support and solidarity. 💙 #loveforvb

You may have seen the beautiful Forget-Me-Not symbol that is now adorning the side of Mount Trashmore. The City created this design as a tribute to those we lost and those who were injured on May 31, 2019. Our Park & Landscape Services team was honored to be part of creating this remembrance, and we hope you all get a chance to stop by and see it over the next two weeks💙 #loveforvb

Ok its been years since I had to check anything out from the public library and I don't know even if I have a library card. I understand I can now get audio and downloadable check out books but need a library card. is there a way I can get one with out actually going into the library right now?
SOS! Wondering why I couldn't log in to my VBPL account this morning ... is everyone locked out, or do I need to upgrade something? Had hoped to find some digital books and other resources.
We received an email about kids ukulele classes but I assumed those are cancelled? Can someone verify that please. Thanks!
Hey VBPL!! I need to renew my card but can't get to a branch due to COVID. How can i renew so I can utilize my library services??
Hello Has the library opened yet?
Question is any library open
VBPL: I know there is a 3D printer at Central, are there any others at the branches? How about sister-city libraries (NPL, CPL)? Please see link below about using the specialized printers to create desperately needed PPE masks for hospital, etc... Read in CNN:
When will the library be open?
Is there a way to get a library card digitally?

I know that registration for events starts two weeks before exactly, but registration on Christmas day?!?!? Who didn't think that through?
