Valions and friends-
As many of you are aware, VFA-15 is slated to deactivate in a couple of months. For those that are interested in attending, the deactivation ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, 31 May 2017 at 1500 at the CNATTU ceremonial hangar on board NAS Oceana. Unfortunately, the command will not be able to sponsor anyone gaining access to the base that does not already have it. That being said, if you DO want to attend and you have active duty or retired friends that are able to sponsor your access I encourage your attendence at the ceremony.
It has been my distinct honor and privilege to the final (but hopefully not last) commanding officer of the best Strike Fighter Squadron in the Navy. They earned the 2016 Retention Excellence Award, the 2016 EAWS Pennant and the 2016 Blue Medical "M", all while supporting eight detachments in the last year. These Sailors have been the epitomy of accomplishing so much with so little and I could not be more proud. They have handled the deactivation and the stormy seas that have come as part of that process with grace and dignity and they continue to produce Full Mission Capable aircraft even today as we help VFA-106 with their maintenance efforts. They have humbled me and taught me more than they will ever know.
There are truly None Finer!
Respectfully,
CDR Matt "Disney" Stevenson, USN
Commanding Officer, Strike Fighter Squadron FIFTEEN
