The city was out yesterday to prune/lift all the street island oaks. In conversation with the city supervisor (an arborist), if the trees were healthy enough, the goal was to lift the canopy to 6 feet and then prune/shape the trees some. It is best to keep the dirt and/or mulch off the base of the trees. Where the tree flares is the highest soil/mulch should be.
No plan for the missing tree was given as this was not in their area of responsibility. It looks like we can expect the city to come through here every 5 years or so.

Hope everyone's staying safe in this storm! It looks like our streets haven't flooded (at least from what I can see from my house), but many of us are going to have a lot of cleanup to do.

Merry Christmas neighbors!

Over the weekend, some neighbors had their cars broken into. It was reported to police that suspects were going up driveways checking for unlocked cars. Please be sure to keep your car doors locked, particularly when you have a garage door opener in your vehicle. If you see suspicious activity, report it to the police. Stay safe!

08/25/2015

We have become aware that Sunday afternoon there was a break-in on Mt. Airy. Fortunately, nothing was stolen and no one was home at the time. Police checked the home and filed an incident report. Please be on alert for suspicious people or events. Thank you for helping keep our community safe!

07/07/2015

Hope all of you are having a wonderful summer! As we all spend more time outside, please remember to pick up any trash and clean up after your pets. I had a conversation with my daughter this evening reminding her to be a courteous neighbor. I appreciate everyone doing their part to keep Mayberry beautiful!

05/23/2015

I would like to take a moment to thank our hard working landscaping committee for volunteering time this Memorial Day weekend and throughout the year. Their hard work is the reason we have not had to raise HOA dues. If you would like to help, please let us know. Thank you!!!

04/05/2015

I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter!

12/24/2014

Middle, High, and Academy schools for the local neighborhoods will be brought to Strawbridge for pickup, which may get hectic. If you haven't already picked your kids up they are asking for patience.

12/05/2014

Strawbridge Elementary is on lockdown after 2 suspects robbed the Wells Fargo and took off through the neighborhood behind the school. One suspect is in custody. Pine Ridge entrances are completely blocked off and cops are going door to door to find the second suspect. Please stay safe neighbors!!!

Special thanks to the landscape committee and to the neighbors who helped clean up the common areas after the storm. All of these folks effort is what helps keep our dues low, so it really is very much appreciated!

06/19/2014

Tonight's storm seemed to come out of nowhere! We lost a tree in our backyard, and it appears a few more were blown over around the neighborhood. I'm sure we'll see lots of neighbors helping neighbors clean up this weekend. That's one of the things I love most about Mayberry!

04/30/2014

Prince George Estates has notified us of a potential new storage facility that developers want to build between Prince George and Mayberry. They have arranged for city council members to come to a meeting on Thursday May 1 at 4:30 pm. The meeting is at 1800 Chelsea Green Drive at the end of the cul-de-sac, so kids are welcome. Meeting will take place rain or shine. An additional meeting will be held Wednesday night at 6:00 pm at the same address to plan for Thursday's meeting. If you would like more information, please "like" the new FB page Prince George has started, "STOP Industrial growth on London Bridge Rd." This is all of the information the Mayberry HOA has at this time, but we plan to have representatives at both meetings and will keep residents posted as we hear more.

I want to thank the neighbor who called the police today to report that my truck was parked on the street facing the wrong way. While a polite visit by the concerned neighbor to say there was an issue would have sufficed, the visit from the VBPD was much more enlightening: he informed me that since it was a neighborhood street, there was no violation and that he didn’t care if I moved my truck or not. His only legal obligation was to inform me that a complaint had been made. While I’m sure that there is something in the HOA rule book that says not to park facing the wrong way, I was informed today that it does not violate a VB ordinance, and is therefore not a Police matter. To the citizen crusader of the Mayberry community who was so concerned, consider yourself educated. It is unfortunate that you consider your neighbor so unapproachable that you call the police.
