As the asteroid comes toward the Earth for the third time in fifty years, all the technology thrown at it does not change the fact that it will be the last marble in the game of this cosmic shooting gallery for our planet. Some felt that it was God’s way of recycling man. With wars, death,...

How about this little ditty I wrote a few years back!

Ode to duct Tape

There's an old invention that is always around,
it comes on a roll with uses abound.
It's everywhere you look,
holding down a rug or binding a book.
A split leg on a chair to mend,
an extra roll just to lend.
For covering a hole on a chain link fence,
or wrapping a box to add suspense.
Holding a wheel from flopping around,
leaving it's tell-tale mark on the ground.
Over my head while holding a vent,
sealing a package that the mail has sent.
Binding the foot of a porcelain quail,
I’m almost out, I hope there's more on sale.
From pencils to stencils to a bundle of sticks,
from boats to floats and things with wicks.
A cat's leg to a small bird cage,
even across the mouth of a poor hostage.
Fix for a goblet that fell to the floor,
even as a hinge for that old screen door.
It's ugly and smelly and tastes real bad,
I love it, I hate it, it's not just a fad.
Now to the end of this sticky tale,
I tried to fix the hole in my sailboat sail.
I slipped and cut my hand real deep,
the blood it had begun to seep.
I went to the doctor out on the Cape,
he closed it tight with a little duct tape.
So no matter if your from rags to riches,
tee off time, tape it and forget the stitches.
