We are preparing to resume classes in July, but with some changes and restrictions. Some restrictions may be lifted when the travel ban expires on 30 June. The biggest limitation is a 14-day quarantine for TDY students. Message us with questions.

- The updated 4th Qtr schedule is attached. It will be posted to the website and reflected in JEMIS this week.
- Students traveling from > 50nm away must complete a 14-day quarantine before entering the building. This is both a JS and Navy requirement that we can not get around.
- Masks are required
- Class size will be smaller
- Based on student feedback, we reduced the 3-week Staff Course to 2 weeks.

Informative article, co-authored by former JTS instructor 1SG Nick Wisley, on a deployment to advise/assist the Peshmerga.

There was a significant amount of prep, planning, and interagency/intergovernmental coordination that went into this SFAB effort, and it comes through in the writing.

A toast! Today we remember the bravery and sacrifice of the 80 men we know as the Doolittle Raiders. On 18 April, 1942 these men launched sixteen B-25 bombers off the USS Hornet, striking Japan, and reminding the world of America’s global reach and power.

How artillery actually kills you

An interesting article on the artillery damage mechanisms vs an individual- blast, frag, thermal 🔺

When it hits flesh, the shrapnel shreds the tissue it passes through, just like a bullet. But, also like a bullet, the biggest factor in lethality is the amount of energy imparted by the munition into the flesh. Basically, physics tells us that no energy or mass is created or destroyed except in nuc...

"The two men in this photograph are Technical Sergeant William E. Thomas and Private First Class Joseph Jackson of the 333rd Field Artillery Battalion, but at the time of the photograph were part of the 969th Artillery Battalion. Scrawling such messages on artillery shells in World War II was one way in which artillery soldiers could humorously express their dislike of the enemy."

Unfortunately JTS must cancel our 3rd quarter courses through June. While students are restricted from TDY travel by the recent travel memorandum, JTS is further restricted by JS direction from having groups larger than 6.

We currently plan to hold the 1-week Joint Targeting Staff Fam and Weaponeering Applications courses at Dam Neck starting 18 May.

The June MTTs to AFRICOM and USFK are pending updates to the “Stop Movement” memorandum and DJS approval, all subject to change as this virus progresses.
