The faculty and staff of the Adult Learning Center would like to congratulate our students who earned their GED® credential during the 2019-2020 school year. It is our sincere hope that this achievement will be the springboard to your future and a stepping stone to your success. We appreciate your understanding of the unusual close of this school year and are extremely proud of each of you and all you accomplished during this time. We want to celebrate with you in a meaningful way. It is our plan to combine the GED® Recognition Ceremony for the Class of 2020 with our celebration of the Class of 2021. This celebration will occur in the Spring of 2021, and each of you will receive a letter from the ALC this summer informing you of the date next May when we will celebrate together. We wanted to mark your accomplishment together with your family and friends. It was for that reason that we decided to hold a joint GED® Recognition Ceremony for both classes together. We will look forward to watching each of you walk across the stage in recognition of your success.

Sunday night is Oscar night, and one of the nominees for Best Animated Short Film began three years ago as a Kickstarter campaign by Matthew A. Cherry. Now, "Hair Love" is getting some love from the Academy! It tells the sweet story of a young black father who learns (after multiple attempts) how to do his daughter’s hair. VBPL has the book and digital download! Check out the adorable illustrations and true heart of this story.

Hello Adult Educators! The Virginia Adult Learning Resource Center, with support from the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) and this year's featured partner, the Virginia Literacy Foundation (VLF) is excited to announce the call for workshop proposals for the annual Virginia Adult Education and Literacy Conference.
