Commander, Carrier Strike Group Eight, arriving!

On Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026, Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron 4 (MSRON-4) hosted a static display for Rear Adm. Matthew J. Kawas, commander, Carrier Strike Group 8, aboard Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story.

During the visit, Kawas toured one of the squadron’s 40-foot Defiant-class patrol boats and received a firsthand look at the platform’s capabilities and operational employment.

Sailors from MSRON-4 and Maritime Expeditionary Security Group 2 (MESG-2) provided subject matter expertise throughout the visit, discussing the platform and sharing insight gained from operating and employing it in support of maritime security missions.

Why we fight.

On Friday, Aug. 7, 2026, MSRON-4 celebrated its loved ones during its annual Family Day Picnic aboard Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story.

From boat rides and games to food fresh off the grill, Sailors and their families enjoyed an afternoon together away from the daily mission—celebrating the people whose support keeps our team strong.

A special thank you to our teammates at Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron TWO for their support in helping make the day possible.
